March Is Our Month!

Thanks to the Signature Room's Charity Of The Month program, March is YOUR chance to help raise money for Open Books! How? Head up to the Signature Room at the 95th floor of the John Hancock building! Once there, order the monthly, four-course dinner menu, known as the "Signature Selection" menu, and Open Books will receive 10% of the total.

Other reasons you should go...

- The view this restaurant has to offer is amazing.
- The food, drinks and service are wonderful!

Find a reason in your life to celebrate (the fact that you can read, even!), invite others to celebrate with you, go out for dinner, and you'll be helping us to carry out our mission of literacy.

For more information, visit the Events page.
See you at the 95th!

The Literacy Landscape

lit side mar09WeWrite creative writing workshops for adults finished this week, and the Open Books team is so proud of the stories and poems that were born from the Tuesday night sessions. Check out excerpts on our blog -- and stay tuned for news of the program's next round! (Thursday night folks, we still have March 5 and 11 to go!)

The Open Books Literacy Department is currently considering applications for summer interns. Apply by Wednesday, March 11, to ensure consideration!

Open Books students need a range of role models, and diversity makes for a more fun, effective, inspiring literacy organization. Thus, we're always seeking volunteers, donors, and supporters of every ethnicity, age, gender, side of town, interest, you name it! What can YOU do? Tell your friends, family, colleagues, and contacts to join Open Books, especially those who represent another cultural experience or point of view! Or bring them to Party with a Purpose on March 12 to meet us!
Events and Excitement

It's not too late to get YOUR tickets to the Party with a Purpose!  Come and PARTY with Open Books on Thursday, March 12, at Mad River. It's economical - $25 gets you all the PASTA and PIZZA, PLUS beer and wine you'd like. Open Books Staff members will be bartending. (That alone should be interesting and entertaining.) There will be literary-themed cocktails, book swapping and prizes for costumes, and your $25 ticket will help fund additional literacy programs AND get you a full belly, some laughs and a good time.
