Meet Candidates This Week At ACREC HQ

Thursday, April 26th is a regular Alachua County Republican Executive Committee meeting.  This month's meeting will be held at ACREC HQ.  Starting about 6:00, we will be starting a social gathering so that attendees can meet and mingle with candidates from the various political races affecting Alachua County.

At 7:00, we will run through a quick business meeting and then give all of our candidates and opportunity to speak and talk about why they are running for office.

If you can come and bring a dish (potato salad, cole slaw, potato chips, drinks, etc) to share, that would be great.  If you would like some ideas of what to bring, contact Delena at 352-316-0151.

County Commission Considering New Taxes

The Alachua County Commission is considering whether or not to add two taxes to the fall ballot for roads and bus rapid transit.

There will be public hearings tomorrow night, April 24th at the evening meeting of the county commission.  The meeting will likely run late, so if you can't go, feel free to call or email the Alachua County Commission and give your input.

If you think you have been taxed enough already and the county should reprioritize its spending, first, then please tell them.

If you believe that county government spending is already well priortized and are willing to pay more taxes for roads and transportation programs, then let them know that.

Email the Commission at:  bocc@alachuacounty.us
Call the Commission at:    352-264-6900
