Obamanomics and A Change In Black Tie and Blue Jeans

The Alachua County Republican Party is announcing a change in the 2011 Black Tie and Blue Jeans. For 8 years in a row, we have put on a major event and brought in big name personalities with star power, and our Benefactors and blue collar and business owner Republican friends have always supported the event and provided more funding to the Alachua County Republican Party than we have ever known, before. But, something changed, this year. Make no mistake, people were excited about Ted Nugent. In fact, we had more excitement about him than any previous speaker.

The problem is that, thanks to Obamanomics and "trickle-up-poverty", nobody has any money. It became evident that small business owners and working Republicans were hurting, tremendously, and simply couldn't afford to come to Black Tie and Blue Jeans. When we realized that our small business owning and working Republican friends weren't buying, we called many of them that had bought before to see what was happening, and we heard some heart wrenching stories. One small business owner told us that he was about 2 months away from closing his doors and was selling off equipment to try to delay that. Somebody else told us they have lost their job and hadn't found another. Yet another told us that they still had their job, but hadn't had a raise in three years - their cost of living was going up, but their income wasn't and they were looking for another part time job to make ends meet.

That combined with recent bad economic news, including zero jobs being created in the last jobs report, Georgia-Pacific closing their Alachua County plywood mill costing 400 people jobs and Bank of America announcing that they were going to lay off 40,000 people nationwide we decided to do what, so far, our federal government and our county government in Alachua County refuses to do and make a tough economic decision.

Adam HasnerWe made the decision to cancel Ted Nugent and ask our friend, Adam Hasner to be the key note speaker for the 2011 Ronald Reagan Black Tie and Blue Jeans BBQ. The event still would have made a little money, but it also needs to fund a very important 2012 ground game and headquarters operation in 2012. By making this change, now, it will allow us to make more money on the event, than we would have made, otherwise, so that we can put it toward our very critical ground game and headquarters operation for next year. Barack Obama, Bill Nelson and the rest of the Democrats that are making this mess worse with each passing day must go, and we are going to dedicate every spare resource to do our part in Alachua County to help make that happen.

Ted Nugent has been a pleasure to work with. There was no lack of enthusiasm for the Motor City Madman. Thank you, Uncle Ted, for having agreed to come visit with us.

Adam Hasner is a great friend, and we owe him our gratutude for stepping in and agreeing to be our keynote for the 2011 Black Tie and Blue Jeans. It is still going to be a great party with 500 or 600 people.

We hope that you will join us and help us in the cause to give Barack Obama, Bill Nelson and the Democrats on the Alachua County Commission the pink slips that they have caused for so many citizens.

Adam HasnerAdam Hasner is lifelong Republican deeply committed to limited government, free markets, American values and a strong national defense.

Adam was first elected in 2002 to serve as a part-time state legislator representing Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Serving alongside Marco Rubio in the Florida House for six years, in 2007, Adam was selected by then-Speaker Rubio to serve as Majority Leader for the Republican caucus, a position he held for four years until being term limited from office in 2010.

In 2009, Adam fought against the impacts of the federal stimulus and successfully rejected nearly $500 million in unemployment funds that would have resulted in a tax increase for Florida businesses.

In 2010, well before the issue became part of national headlines, Adam led the House Republicans in demanding the United States Congress pass a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and then served as the founding national Co-Chairman of the citizen action group, Pass The Balanced Budget Amendment.
