Next REC Meeting

The next ACREC meeting is August 25th at 7:00 P.M at 1210 North Main Street in Gainesville.

This will be our last meeting at this location.

This next meeting will be a primer for Republicans on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc).

Social media is a great tool that we need to take full advantage of.

Alex Patton of Ozean Media will be giving that presentation.

Paid political advertisement, paid for and sponsored by the Alachua County Republican Party, PO Box 358536, Gainesville, Fl  32635, independent of any candidate.

In Defense Of Liberalism, Freedom From Fear

Ok, I can't really defend liberalism, but am pretty sure that I can tell you what's wrong with it.

The problem with liberalism can be summed up into two words:  free cellphones.  I know, you think I'm making an awfully big stretch, here, right?  What could cell phones possibly have to do with the degradation of society and our government?

welfareThe government has created a program to provide free cell phones and up to 250 minutes a month to people on some kind of income assistance or food assistance programs.  It is a program born out of Social Security, and the cell phone providers are taking advantage of the government largess by creating subsidiaries to distribute the phones and the free minutes.  In fact, some of the surcharges and taxes that you pay on your cell phone bill go, specifically, to funding the cost of this program.

You're still asking, "What does this have to do with the problems with our society and government?"  I'm getting there.  In a quote to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Gary Carter, a program director for Assurance Wireless said, "The program is about peace of mind.  It's one less bill that someone has to pay, so they can pay for their rent or for day care. . .It is a right to have peace of mind."

Boom goes the dynamite!  There it is.  The government is now in the business of providing peace of mind as a right.  It's not just cell phones, either.  Its houses, cars and food.  Don't worry about failing.  The government is here to manage your risk of failure, for you.  You have nothing to fear.  The government can take away your fear.

But what are we without our fear?  I need my fear?  My fear that I won't make enough money to keep the electricity on and food on the table for my three kids is what drives me to work hard.  I work for my peace of mind.  If the government is going to give it to me, anyway, then why work at all?  If you take away my fear of failure, then you have also taken away my incentive to succeed.

Unfortunately, we have done just that.  Little by little, the government has made large segments of society dependent on it with ever expanding social programs that are bankrupting the rest of us.  It has taken away their incentive to succeed, and it has taken away their fear of failure.  With that, the fabric of good old American values and work ethic are tattered and rotten.  The only thing many people now fear is that the big, bad Republicans are going to come along and take away their freedom from fear.

The road that we have put ourselves on is a moral and productive dead end.  Freedom from fear is slavery, and my fear is what liberates me.  My fear is what makes me free.

Throughout his lengthy career, legendary guitarist, Ted Nugent, has reveled in the criticism that always seems to come from his patriotic straight-talk. While there's no denying his exceptional talent on the six-string, his knack for penning arena rock anthems, or his standing as one of rock's top live acts, it's his non-musical endeavors that have caused the most consternation from his detractors (his conservative beliefs and his 2nd Amendment advocacy). But by the same token, Nugent is a family man and one of the few hard rockers who has admirably stuck by his lifelong anti-drugs and anti-drink stance throughout his career.

Ted doesn't just limit himself to music and hunting, he's very outspoken when it come to other issues that hit close to home including politics, the Second Amendment and crime.

He's received the James Fenimore Cooper Award for his many accomplishments in the field of writing and for his amazing work promoting American hunting and outdoor heritage. His top rated show on Outdoor Channel, Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild, is the four-time winner of the People's Choice Best Hunting Show Golden Moose Award. The North American Hunting Club named Ted the #1 Hunt Partner and he's the winner of the first-ever ATV Image Award. It was presented to Ted by ATV Industry Magazine in 2004 for his commitment to outdoor life, hunting and recreation.

At 61, Ted has no plans of slowing down.  Ted's a loving husband to his wife Shemane and a devoted father to his daughters Starr and Sasha and sons Toby and Rocco.

As busy as he is, he's doing what he loves. Ted said it best, "I really have the American dream licked."

Sound System For Black Tie and Blue Jeans

Canterbury Equestrian Showplace is a great venue, but also a very challenging environment to set up a sound system for, and we have BTBJ Crowda great company and great partners in Tom Collett and TDC Entertainment in providing a great sound system and great, professional service.
Still, last year we got caught a little flat footed when Neal Boortz wanted to use a lapel microphone.  We just couldn't boost the sound enough without getting audio feedback.
For Ted Nugent, this year, the ACREC and TDC Entertainment are committed to making sure that we have the best sound system we have ever had.
