Pirate Party Day - Important Information
Don't forget the Pirate Party today. We have a couple of helpful tips on getting there.
I-75:
Whether coming form the North (Gainesville / Alachua) or the South (Macintosh / Ocala) go toward Micanopy and get off of I-75 at the Micanopy / County Road 234 Exit. Head East on County Road 234. At U.S. 441, turn right and head South. When you get the intersecion (the Intersection that Pearl's Country BBQ is on), take a left to pick up Country Road 234 again and head East. The Prarie Creek Lodge will be down a mile or so on the left. We will have markers in front of where you turn into the lodge.

The Pirate Party is our official kick-off to the 2012 County Commission elections. We are hosting a Pirate Party in honor Alachua County's most prolific pillagers and plunderers, Commissioners Mike Byerly, Paula DeLaney and Rodey Long. We doubt that they will show up, but we are going to honor The Taxing Three for their ability to simultaneously tax us into oblivion and create a $400 million road repair deficit at the same time.
Jean Calderwood, John Martin, Brandon Kutner and Walt Boyer, all having announced or filed to run for Alachua County Commission, will be in attendance.
The Pirate Party is going to be a fish fry with a live band, cheese grits, cole slaw, hush puppies, boiled shrimp, tea, beer and wine and is going to be held at the beautiful Prarie Creek Lodge east of Micanopy. Adult tickets are $25 and child tickets (15 year or under) are $10. You can get tickets by contacting the Alachua County Republican Executive Committee at 352-316-0151 or 352-281-1705 or going to Beaty Restaurant Equipment and Supplies at 1206 North Main Street in Gainesville.
Tickets will also be available at the door.
