Letting The Pirates In The Front Door
| | Click To See Video |
The Alachua County Republican Party's Pirate Party is just a week and a half away. The Pirate Party is in honor of The Taxing Three, county commissioners Mikey Byerly, Paula DeLaney and Rodney Long, and their singular ability to tax us into oblivion all the while allowing our infrastructure to crumble to the tune of a $400 million road repair backlog.
We figured it was only fair to invite them to their own party, so we sent a couple of great college kids into the county commission meeting dressed as pirates to invite them.
We doubt they will come, but who knows. Below is the statement that they read, and the video is loaded on our YouTube page.
Commissioners,
On Saturday, May 7th, the Alachua County Republican Party is hosting a Pirate Party - a fish fry - at 5:30 P.M. at the Prairie Creek Lodge east of Micanopy. This event is designed to give voice to the dissatisfaction that so many are feeling with the direction of county government and the hostility that some of you seem to feel toward those in our society that produce.
In the spirit open and friendly dialogue, the Alachua County Republican Party would like to invite you to drop by and speak one on one with residents that might not have an opportunity to show up at these county commission meetings and to voice their concerns.
Thank you.

The Pirate Party!
The Alachua County Republican Party is proud to announce a grand summer event.
On Saturday, May 7th, we are hosting a Pirate Party in honor Alachua County's most prolific pillagers and plunderers, Mike Byerly, Paula DeLaney and Rodey Long. We doubt that they will show up, but we are going to honor The Taxing Three for their ability to simultaneously tax us into oblivion and create a $400 million road repair deficit at the same time.
The Pirate Party is going to be a fish fry with a live band, tea, beer and wine and is going to be held at the beautiful Prarie Creek Lodge east of Micanopy. Adult tickets are $25 and child tickets (15 year or under) are $10. You can get tickets by contacting the Alachua County Republican Executive Committee at 352-373-8500 or going to Beaty Restaurant Equipment and Supplies at 1206 North Main Street in Gainesville. Tickets will also go on sale, very soon, on our website.
