 Pyramid is Growing!

At Pyramid, it has always been our goal to continue to grow and expand  our personnel and our capabilities in the environmental industry, in an effort to provide our clients the most innovative and cost-effective solutions to their problems.

As a result, Pyramid would like to welcome our newest employee, Mr. Eric Cross, to our team of professionals.  Eric is a licensed geologist in the states of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida, with experience in a wide variety of fields including geologic mapping, geotechnical investigations, environmental assessments, and near surface geophysical methods.

Eric's expertise brings additional perspectives and knowledge of soil and groundwater issues to our team.

Mr. Cross has worked at the United States Geological Survey, the University of South Florida, and in the consulting industry as a geologist, geophysicist, and project manager.

His management experience includes projects such as a comprehensive hydrogeologic evaluation of the Basseterre Valley in St. Kitts, a detailed geophysical analysis of karst hazards on the island of Anguilla, delineation of an aquifer and evaluation of water supply production zones in Costa Rica, and karst mapping associated with sinkhole investigations throughout Florida. Eric will be acting as a Geophysicist and Business Development Associate here at Pyramid.

Pyramid's Geophysical Capabilities

Pyramid will continue to be a leading provider of near surface geophysical services to North Carolina and the surrounding region.  Geophysical methods are becoming increasingly accurate, faster, and more portable than they have ever been in the past, making them an ideal tool to provide cost-effective solutions to environmental and geologic site characterization.

Pyramid's geophysical capabilities and services have expanded to benefit both existing and potential clients.

Some of Pyramid's geophysical tools and their applications include:

Electromagnetic Surveys (EM) - Used to measure conductivity and as a metal detector, EM technology is ideal for locating UST's, other buried metal objects, fill material, and subsurface zones of contamination (i.e. plumes)

Electrical Resistivity (ER) Surveys - Resistivity technology has vastly improved in the recent past, with newer multi-electrode systems allowing for higher resolution data sets to be obtained across relatively large areas in a fraction of the time.  Applications include karst mapping, water supply investigations, cave detection, chlorinated contaminant mapping, and general geologic site characterization.

MER Profiles

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Surveys
- GPR technology has also improved in the recent past, with newer 3D capabilities and high frequency systems that can be used for structural integrity analysis and identifying reinforcement and/or moisture intrusion within concrete.  Pyramid incorporates GPR into a variety of projects, including UST locating, landfill delineations, and geologic mapping.

Multi-Channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) Seismic - MASW is a newer geophysical method that is rapidly proving to be highly effective in providing subsurface density and geologic information.  MASW utilizes seismic properties in the shallow subsurface to make interpretations regarding stratigraphic changes, the integrity of shallow bedrock, and can be translated into IBC standard site characterization data.  MASW is also beneficial at sites that contain shallow buried metal objects or utilities that would interfere with electric or magnetic methods.

We are excited for what the rest of 2012 is going to bring to Pyramid and the environmental industry as a whole.  Continued innovations in the industry are allowing for more robust data sets and more accurate conclusions to be made for our clients.

Once again, thank you to all our loyal customers, vendors, and employees for your support and efforts this year. Pyramid can't do it without you.

Sincerely,
