July 2010 The Clubmaker Report
Brought to you by the new Aldila RIP and Itomic Golf Grips
Aldila RIP Now Shipping

After giving the Tour guys all the fun for the past year, the new Aldila RIP is shipping. The shaft technology was introduced about a year ago on tour and immediately started racking up victories.

I should have more technical information on the RIP technology soon and will pass it along right away. Try the RIP in your R9 (contact me for installation pricing in any of the R9 series drivers or fairway woods, including the latest models).

I designed a protective Iphone Skin using the RIP Skull and Crossbones. I'll give a freebie RIPSkin (fits Iphone 3G/3GS, other models to come) for the first dozen RIP orders along with free shipping to lower 48.

SK Fiber WedgeForce Shaft Giveaway

Our friends at SK Fiber are excited about their Wedgeforce graphite shaft. They were nice enough to send me a wedgeforce shaft and I thought I do a contest to give one away. It's a great looking shaft with a black chrome paint treatment. It's very low torque and is offered in 100, 110, and 120 gram models (they get stiffer as the weight increases). It's got quite a soft feel for such a low torque shaft. Looking into the tip of the shaft, you'll notice that it's almost solid composite!

Here's a little info from SK: The Wedge Force features an innovative new composite mixture that delivers superior strength, soft feel and exceptional oscillation stability.

For a chance to win one of the Wedgeforce shafts, follow the link below and read up on the new shaft. Send me a quick email telling me something about the tip section and I'll do a drawing and announce the winner at the Clubmaker Report next week.

Penley Heater 2 Hybrid

Carter Penley is adding to his premium line of golf shafts with a new hybrid shaft called the Heater 2. It's 90g , 2.3 torque and black with yellow graphics.

Here's Carter Penley's view on hybrid performance: The better ball strike is one that launches the ball a few degrees higher than the loft of the head and carries 80% of the distance to the target and then drops at a 50 to 55 degree angle to the target surface with virtually a soft impact and very little roll, allowing the player to achieve their desired distance with accuracy and confidence with every strike.

The Penley ET2 is worth a look, too. Follow the link at the hybrid page for specs and information on all of the Penley shaft line.

Hot Shots

Graphite Design had a big week on Tour last week with the winner of both the Canadian Open and the Senior British Open bagging Graphite Design shafts. Both went old school with the Canadian Open winner playing a YS6 in his fairway wood (and a Fuji 6 in his driver) and the Senior Open winner playing the Purple Ice in his driver and FW. Maybe we should draft a petition demanding the return of the discontinued (and still popular) Purple Ice shaft. In the meantime, check out the new TourAD DI here http://www.clubmaker-online.com/products/gd.tourad.di.html

House of Forged has done a really nice update to their entire shaft lineup. They're using a cool pearl white paint treatment and have updated their logos. HOF has also introduced a new HD Prototype model based on Matrix HD design. Nice job, HOF! http://www.clubmaker-online.com/products/hof.html

Itomic Golf Grips
  Itomic Golf Grips
Sponsor Tacki Mac's colorful new ITOMIC grips are not like traditional rubber grips. They are made from a proprietary blend of elastomeric materials that are very tacky with a super soft (but firm) feel. This revolutionary blend of thermo-forming materials is both very durable, and high performing in all weather conditions. ITOMIC grips maintain their tacky feel and new look for years by washing them with warm soapy water. The new Itomic grips are available in black, white, red, or blue and in a new wrap style. Follow the link below to order Itomic grips direct from Tacki Mac. I'm getting great feedback from Clubmaker Report readers on the Itomic grips. Give them a try!

Tacki Mac has a complete line of grips and have developed the Kelmac and Avon brands. You can find just about any grip style (including a great arthritic grip). Here's their web site http://www.tackimac.com
