July 2010 The Clubmaker Report
Brought to you by the Aldila Voodoo and Tacky Mac Itomic Grips
Greetings!
Aldila Voodoo
  Aldila Voodoo
It looks like the highly anticipated introduction of the new Aldila RIP will be during the first few weeks of July. Watch this space for details, pricing, and a review after I've had a chance to pop one into my R9 for testing.

Free shipping continues on the Aldila Voodoo NV and Voodoo VS shafts. Link below for further information. What sets the VooDoo apart from other shafts is its patent pending S-core, or stabilized core, Technology designed to increase distance and provide outstanding accuracy with each swing. The real "magic" of the VooDoo is the high modulus carbon stabilization rib running the length of the shaft. "Our S-core Technology dramatically stabilizes the shaft's cross-section through the use of an internal carbon-fiber rib system," said John Oldenburg, Aldila's Vice President of Engineering. "The innovative rib structure increases hoop strength/stiffness so much that it is 80 percent greater than conventional graphite, and up to 60 percent greater than competitors' attempts at cross sectional stabilization." Visit the Aldila Voodoo Web Site here http://aldilavoodoo.html . For a chart showing launch and spin characteristics of the entire Aldila line, go here http://www.clubmaker-online.com/products/aldila.launch.html If you're looking to upgrade the shaft in your hybrid, you might consider the Aldila Voodoo (link below). Same S-Core technology as in the wood shaft that, according to Aldila VP of Engineering, John Oldenburg, " resists shaft ovaling and deformation during the swing, which maximizes energy transfer to the ball and yields unparalleled distance and accuracy."

BestGrips Leather Grips

Best Grips is no longer importing leather grips from Australia, they're making leather grips in the USA. They've been a sponsor at Clubmaker Online (under another name) and make a complete line of unique leather golf grips in a variety of colors and exotic skins.

They've recently introduced a unique "putter shoe" and also make great looking leather golf belts.

Graphite Design Pershing-50% off

I get a lot of requests for the now discontinued Graphite Design Pershing shafts. One of my suppliers has purchase some to be offered at a special clearance price of $42 each (was $84). It's a great shaft at a great price. I'm working on re-doing my Graphite Design pages, send me a note if you'd like a quote on any of their current line. The manufacturers site is here http://gdintl.com
Free Facebook Shaft Fitting

I thought it would be a fun experiment to upload videos to my facebook page and offer free shaft fitting. Sign up as a friend of Clubmaker Online at my facebook page (I guess it's a "like" now) and upload a short video of you hitting a few balls with your driver at the range. The more information you can give me the better (call out total distance on each shot, for instance).

Pass along info about your swing (swingspeed, tempo, current shaft/flex, current clubhead/flex) and what you don't like about your current setup and I'll try and suggest a shaft or two for you. You can use the facebook message center for this information.

The first guy to do it has a great swing and he passed along excellent information on what he was looking for. I actually used his swing with a side by side of my pathetic lunge and it helped me to diagnose an issue I was having with a too flat take-away.

Hot Shots

A nice first time win at the Travelers Championship. Winner was using a pink prototype Grafalloy in his driver (the BiMatrx) a Project X in his 3 Wood, and Dynamic Gold in his irons. The LPGA Championship winner smoked the field, thanks in part to her Graphite Design TourAD MD6. The winner and 5 of top 10 played Graphite Design.

Matrix had a 3 of the top ten at the Travelers playing their shafts. The new Matrix Radix is now shipping is the 4/5/6/7 Series models. The Radix won't break your bank account but still uses some series high tech design. http://www.clubmaker-online.com/mcc/radix.html

Those of you looking for a great clubmaking organization might check out Clubmaker Online sponsor AGCP. They feature the finest ongoing education for clubmakers and clubfitters. Info here http://www.agcpgolf.com/

I've been picking up some serious vibes on some of the new Harrison shafts. Two guys sent me emails last week raving on the Saga http://www.clubmaker-online.com/newtit.htm I've been testing the new Harrison Eclipse and it's a winner. Similar design features as the Saga but with more of a focus on distance.

Tacky Mac Itomic
  Itomic Golf Grips
Sponsor Tacki Mac's colorful new ITOMIC grips are not like traditional rubber grips. They are made from a proprietary blend of elastomeric materials that are very tacky with a super soft (but firm) feel. This revolutionary blend of thermo-forming materials is both very durable, and high performing in all weather conditions. ITOMIC grips maintain their tacky feel and new look for years by washing them with warm soapy water. The new Itomic grips are available in black, white, red, or blue and in a new wrap style. Follow the link below to order Itomic grips direct from Tacki Mac.

I'm getting great feedback from Clubmaker Report readers on the Itomic grips. Give em a try!
