March 2010 The Clubmaker Report
The Clubmaker Report is brought to you by the Aldila Voodoo and Itomic Golf grips from Tacki Mac Golf.
Itomic Golf Grips
  Itomic Golf Grips
Tacki Mac's colorful new ITOMIC grips are not like traditional rubber grips. They are made from a proprietary blend of elastomeric materials that are very tacky with a super soft (but firm) feel. This revolutionary blend of thermo-forming materials is both very durable, and high performing in all weather conditions. ITOMIC grips maintain their tacky feel and new look for years by washing them with warm soapy water. The new Itomic grips are available in black, white, red, or blue and in a new wrap style. Follow the link below to order Itomic grips direct from Tacki Mac.
New Miura CB501 Irons

Miura is coming out with a new iron called the CB501. They call the design "sweet spot muscle back". The CB501 is supposed to offer the trajectory and feel of a fine forged blade but with cavity back forgiveness.

I can build you any of the irons in the Miura line. A great way to experience the feel of a Miura forged iron is to try one of the Miura wedges. Info here http://www.clubmaker-online.com/miura.wedges.html . Miura has mastered the technical design variables of an iron including size, weight, center of gravity, balance, bounce, and sweet spot. Every Miura golf club combines a perfect blend of these interrelated elements.

R9 Reshafts

Those of you playing the Taylormade R9 driver, fairway woods, or hybrids might check out my R9 resource page. I can reshaft your R9 with your choice of about any shaft made. I'll install it to your specs on an aftermarket sleeve.

Hot rod your R9 with one of the new shaft models out now for the 2010 golf season.

Aldila Voodoo NV Contest
  Aldila Voodoo
What sets the VooDoo apart from other shafts is its patent pending S-core, or stabilized core, Technology designed to increase distance and provide outstanding accuracy with each swing. The real "magic" of the VooDoo is the high modulus carbon stabilization rib running the length of the shaft. "Our S-core Technology dramatically stabilizes the shaft's cross-section through the use of an internal carbon-fiber rib system," said John Oldenburg, Aldila's Vice President of Engineering. "The innovative rib structure increases hoop strength/stiffness so much that it is 80 percent greater than conventional graphite, and up to 60 percent greater than competitors' attempts at cross sectional stabilization."

Visit the Aldila Voodoo Web Site here http://aldilavoodoo.html For a chart showing launch and spin characteristics of the entire Aldila line, go here http://www.clubmaker-online.com/products/aldila.launch.html

I'm having a contest for my Twitter followers and Clubmaker Report subscribers. To enter to win a drawing for an Aldila NV Voodoo (choice of R or S flex), follow the link below and scroll down to the bottom of the page for information on the new NV Voodoo. Send me a quick email with Aldila NV in the subject line and tell me how the launch of the NV Voodoo differs from the VS Voodoo (lower or higher). I'll do a random drawing before the next Clubmaker Report and announce the winner. In coming weeks make sure you read The Clubmaker Report and watch for details on a drawing to win a Aldila RIP Staff Bag.

Short Shots

Mitsubishi tells me that they have won the driver shaft count at 7 of the first 8 official PGA TOUR stops, including both the WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship and Mayakoba Golf Classic and that 25% of the field used driver shafts by Mitsu. Most are the Diamana Whiteboard and Blueboard. Here's a chart that shows launch characteristics of the entire lineup from Mitsubishi http://www.clubmaker-online.com/mitsubishi.chart.html. The winner

New shaft from Graphite Design is coming soon. It's called the Tour AD Di. Once I get my hands on one I'll report back to you on it.

Another win last week for Fujikura at the Accenture. The winner used the new Motore Speeder in his driver and the Rombax W series in his fairway wood. http://clubmaker-online.com/fuji.motore.speeder.html for info on the new shaft.

All of the Nickent 4DX hybrids are gone but I'm expecting another shipment towards the end of the month. I might have some of the 4DX driver heads and Evolver heads coming, too. Watch my Twitter feed http://twitter.com/golfcast or Clubmaker Report for ship dates.
