I've got until Monday Feb 18 2008 to get in
my pre-orders for the new Mitsubishi Javln
shaft series and will extend my free shipping
offer (to lower 48) until then.
Mitsubishi Rayon has introduced a new tour level shaft series called the JAVLN. I'm excited to try this new shaft as it's supposed to have a similar firm tip profile to the $300 Diamana Whiteboard (JAVLN is slightly softer) with a somewhat stiffer butt profile (and it's priced at $150). Here's the information from Mitsubishi: Available in woods, irons, and hybrid, the MITSUBISHI RAYON JAVLN Series offers a powerful blend of distance, feel, and accuracy. The JAVLN Series has been designed to help players achieve an optimal combination of carry and roll, maximizing today's next generation club head technology. In order to meet the performance needs of today's more demanding players, the Mitsubishi Rayon JAVLN Series utilizes a specialized carbon fiber called TRH50. Designed by Mitsubishi Rayon, TRH50 is a proprietary fiber with a higher modulus of elasticity than similar fibers in the same category. By selectively utilizing TRH50 in conjunction with intermediate and high modulus fibers, we have created a shaft that is more responsive. The end result is a product engineered to deliver tour caliber performance utilizing Mitsubishi Rayon's industry leading materials and design techniques. The MITSUBISHI RAYON JAVLNFX Wood Shaft features a stable tip-section without sacrificing responsiveness or feel. The JAVLNFX delivers outstanding performance and the stability required by today's more demanding player. The JAVLN wood is available in 60/70/80 gram weight classes (63/71/78g in stiff). Price is $150. The JAVLN hybrid is available in 70 and 90 gram weight classes and is 42" and in the mid 3 deg. torque range (depending on weight/flex). Price on the hybrid is $90. The JAVLN iron is 80 grams and 3.2 torque with a mid kick point. Price is $60 each, installation labor starts at $25. |

Some nice exposure lately for my friends at
Matrix. Callaway has added their Ozik Xcon 6
shafts to the fitting carts for their new
interchangeable driver series. Justin Rose
was on the cover of a golf magazine with his
Matrix Ozik shafted driver proudly displayed
and Camilo Villegas was featured in an
article with his Ozik TP.
The Matrix line has been my most popular shaft line basically since I started Clubmaker Online 12 (!) years ago. Their latest premium offerings (Xcon series, Code series) are hot sellers and I still sell their entire MFS line, too. Let me know if you need help choosing the right shaft for you game. |

I'm going to expand my review pages to help
web site visitors choose and compare
different shafts before buying. If you enjoy
writing and would like to contribute reviews
on the shafts you've tried and compared,
please send me a note and I'll post it online
for you. Probably will appear at my new
shaftconnection.com web site.
I get a lot of email every day and folks like to have confirmation from unbiased sources that they're making the right decision when buying/upgrading their shafts. The feedback also helps me when making recommendations to my customers. |

My buddy Todd Cassidy (formerly of Accuflex
Golf) is at a new grip company called Energy
Grips. The new design is supposed to reduce
vibration by dissipating shock through impact.
Here's a bit of information from their web site:
The Energy Grip features an innovative,
proprietary design that decreases the level
of fatigue caused by the effects of
repetitive shock and vibration, enables an
enhanced feel for the game, and provides a
superior playing experience.
Energy Grip is available in two styles: a
one-piece injection-molded grip and a
two-piece grip that consists of an
under-listing and a wrap. The one-piece
injection-molded rubber grip product is for
professional players, and the two-piece wrap
grip product, which will be available in the
spring of this year, is used primarily by the
non-professional avid and casual players
I'm thinking about adding these to my gripscience.com pages/catalog. Check them out and let me know what you think. If interested, I can email you when they're ready to ship. They're premium priced at bout $10.99 each but I think the shock absorption qualities will make them worth it. They're tour rep already has them in quite a few players clubs and they've had a top ten finish last week, nice start! |
