January 2008 The Clubmaker Report
New Yes! Golf Putter Models
  Yes! Donna Putter
Yes! Golf is introducing 6 new putters between now and April 15. The first two are the Donna and the Nicky. Yes! Golf had 27 Tour wins in 2007, was featured(the Abbie and Hanna models) in the most recent Golf Digest Hot List issue, and is known for their C-Groove face technology that gets the ball rolling much faster than any other putter design.

The first new putter is the Donna. This hybrid putter is composed of two different materials. The face is made of aviation grade aluminum and the body is made of 304 stainless steel. The combination of a light face and heavy back generates a high MOI. Next is the Nicky. A putter where tradition meets technology. This classic blade is a pronounced toe down putter with a fully chromed head made from 304 stainless steel and a head weight of 350 grams.

Whup n Shaft Wins 2007 Remax Longdrive

The Whup n shaft 50" Long Drive shafts dominated the recent 2007 RE/MAX World LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS, taking 1st, 3rd, and 9th Places in the Open Division. The winner used this shaft with a Geek Golf DCT (dot com this) clubhead. http://www.clubmaker-online.com/products/geek.dct.html

The Longdrive Whup n Shaft is available in two versions. Low Trajectory - This shaft is available in flexes ranging from 240-cpm to 260-cpm (which build-out about 10-cpm higher in a standard weight top-load driver head). These shafts have 4.0 inches of parallel tip. The shafts weigh 78.5 grams with 3.3 true torque rating. The 2.09/Mid-High Kick-point produces a 3* lower launch angle than our standard launch shafts. Standard Trajectory - This shaft also runs in flexes ranging from 240-cpm to 260-cpm, and they similarly have 3.3 torque and 4.0 inches of parallel tip. These shafts are a hair lighter at 76.5 grams, and the kick-point at 2.16 is mid (lower) to produce a 3* higher launch than the Low Trajectory shafts. Unlike other name-brand shafts, which are made in Mexico, China, Korea, Bangladesh, Taiwan, and China, all of our shafts are MADE IN THE USA, and we are very proud to list this on each shaft label. These shafts are made by highly-trained professionals, who have an average of more than ten years experience in this field. Our long drive shafts are made from 27 unique and different layers of graphite prepreg, which are purchased from the world's top supplier of high-end prepreg. Each of these 27 layers are electronically-machine rolled (one-at-a-time) in order to insure the highest level of accuracy. Unlike other shafts (which are measured for torque only at the tip-end), all of our shafts are measured for torque ratings in three places (at the tip-end, at the butt-end, and at the mid-section). Any shafts that are found to be more than 3-cpms out-of-round (following a 360* rotation) are considered to be defects and they are discarded. Each shaft also passes additional quality-control inspections for roundness and for tip-to-butt stiffness. Our competitors do not perform all of these quality-control testing. Quite simply, if you achieve the proper launch-angle, and if you transfer more energy to the ball through a stronger and more efficient shaft, and if you combine this with a lower ball-spin rate, the ball has no choice but to go farther and straighter. As demonstrated at the recent World Long Drive Championships, our efforts have achieved the desired results. Price is $199 for the longdrive version of the Whup n Shaft. I should have a page set up in a day or two at Clubmaker Online. In the meantime, order at my secure special order form at http://clubmaker-online.com/verisign.secure.html (or email me for order instructions).

There is also a 46" model in Ladies thru TourX flexes for those of us that don't have visions of being Longdrive Champion. 3.9 Torque and about 65 grams.

New Mitsubishi JAVLN Shafts

Mitsubishi Rayon has introduced a new tour level shaft series called the JAVLN. I'm excited to try this new shaft as it's supposed to have a similar firm tip profile to the $300 Diamana Whiteboard (JAVLN is slightly softer) with a somewhat stiffer butt profile (and it's priced at $150). Here's the information from Mitsubishi: Available in woods, irons, and hybrid, the MITSUBISHI RAYON JAVLN Series offers a powerful blend of distance, feel, and accuracy. The JAVLN Series has been designed to help players achieve an optimal combination of carry and roll, maximizing today's next generation club head technology. In order to meet the performance needs of today's more demanding players, the Mitsubishi Rayon JAVLN Series utilizes a specialized carbon fiber called TRH50. Designed by Mitsubishi Rayon, TRH50 is a proprietary fiber with a higher modulus of elasticity than similar fibers in the same category. By selectively utilizing TRH50 in conjunction with intermediate and high modulus fibers, we have created a shaft that is more responsive. The end result is a product engineered to deliver tour caliber performance utilizing Mitsubishi Rayon's industry leading materials and design techniques.

The MITSUBISHI RAYON JAVLNFX Wood Shaft features a stable tip-section without sacrificing responsiveness or feel. The JAVLNFX delivers outstanding performance and the stability required by today's more demanding player. The JAVLN wood is available in 60/70/80 gram weight classes (63/71/78g in stiff). Price is $150. The JAVLN hybrid is available in 70 and 90 gram weight classes and is 42" and in the mid 3 deg. torque range (depending on weight/flex). Price on the hybrid is $90. The JAVLN iron is 80 grams and 3.2 torque with a mid kick point. Price is $60 each. Email me for pre-order information at jhm@clubmaker-online.com . Shafts should be shipping in a week or two.
