Harrison Mugen Prototype ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harrison Sports has been a longtime supporter of
Clubmaker Online and it was exciting to see them get a
win last week with their new Mugen Prototype and
Impulse hybrid shafts. Here's the PR on their win and
information on the new shaft.
Harrison Sports received top honors this weekend as its new Mugen Prototype graphite shaft delivered a victory for Rory Sabbatini at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas. Sabbatini, the new Colonial champion, played with a Harrison Mugen prototype graphite shaft in his driver and a Harrison Impulse shaft is his hybrid club. Sabbatini has enjoyed solid performance from his Harrison shafts this season, earning him a fourth career PGA TOUR victory after recently scoring consecutive top-three finishes at the Masters, EDS Byron Nelson Championship and Wachovia Championship. "We congratulate Rory on a terrific victory," says Mike Cheng, president of Harrison. "The technology that went into the Mugen shafts is unlike any other golf shaft on the market today. The Mugen line features a lighter weight design, yet it possesses a stronger tip and higher performance capabilities - the combination of which makes the Mugen an ideal choice for many players looking to generate a faster swing speed." The Mugen features the fusion of Ultra Thin Ply (UTP) prepreg - a thin, flat sheet of graphite fiber bonded by epoxy resin weighing only 50-70 grams per square meter compared to typical graphite prepreg that can weigh in excess of 150 grams - and satellite-grade graphite fiber. This process allows for a consistent shaft at lighter weights, therefore allowing players to generate higher swing speeds to increase distance. In addition, single-walled carbon nanotubes are embedded throughout the shaft's tip section to further strengthen and enhance its durability and performance. The result is a highly stable shaft with low torque to minimize shaft twisting at impact and a significant stiffness contrast between the shaft's tip and butt to promote a Mid launch/low spin ball flight to maximize distance. The Mugen Prototype shaft is available in 65-, and 75-gram options, with torque ranging from 2.4 degrees to 2.7 degrees and is priced at $150. Shipping/insurance is $9.95 to lower 48 and $35 international. Click on the link below to go direct to my basic secure orderform. |

Grafalloy Epic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've received a nice shipment of the new Grafalloy
Epic shafts you've no doubt been reading about.
They recorded their first win on the European Tour
recently and it's a great new product. I've got both .
350 and .335 models in stock and a few fairway
models, too. Here's the scoop on the Epic:
Epic represents the first sporting goods product that has been truly enabled by advances in nanotechnology. Our proprietary Nanofuse material is created by harnessing the superior strength properties of nano-crystalline metals and fusing them at the molecular level with a composite polymer substrate. The result is an entirely new high- performance shaft material that offers increased distance with a 35% improvement in shot dispersion compared to graphite shaft on the market today. |
