 Dear Valued Client:
It's hard to surf the web these days without viewing a video on YouTube, Hulu or Facebook. In fact, in November 2008, Internet users watched 12.7 billion online videos -- up by 34 percent from November 2007 -- and more than 130 million people watched professional video content online in January 2009.
As online video consumption grows in everyday life, the demand for educational use of video in the classroom is growing too. A report by the Video and Higher Education Project says faculty and librarians expect their use of video to increase significantly in the next five years, yet technology and legal barriers still prevent them from finding and accessing the video segments they want.
In this month's Featured Article, read how online dance instructor Gina Sawyer overcame the barriers of teaching online by using videos. Our Digital Resource Repository -- with new interactive activities being added -- can do the same for your online, hybrid or face-to-face courses.

The Repository Gets Active
The production team finished clipping and formatting 385 flash activities for upload into the Digital Resource Repository. This November, all Repository subscribers will see a new tab labeled "Activities" next to the "Video Clips" tab. Just like the videos, you can browse and add these activities to your playlists for access in your learning management system.
The interactive flash activities span the following disciplines: Marcoeconomics (24), Microeconomics (20), Sociology (8), General Business (61), Health (15), Nutrition (43), U.S. History (49), English (79), Government (42), Anatomy & Physiology (35), and Physical Fitness (10).

Last month, we bid our old phone system farewell here at the Dallas TeleLearning offices and transitioned to a brand new client call center. Aside from the fancy new phones we received (read: ring tones!), the client call center enables us to answer your phone calls more efficiently and serve you better.
Our phone number hasn't changed; you can still reach us toll free at 866.347.8576 or at 972.669.6650, but now when you call us, you'll immediately hear a voice recording and be routed to the appropriate person to take your call. |

It may be her first foray into teaching online, but Richland College dance instructor Gina Sawyer knows what it takes to keep distance learners engaged. Teaching a cool subject like Online Dance Appreciation doesn't hurt either.
