Greetings!
First of all, thanks to all of you who shared your thoughts on the last couple of articles. It's great to get feedback and to hear what you think.
I'm pretty careful about recommending other people's services and work as I don't want to abuse our relationship, but when I come across something which I think is truly inspirational or may have an interest to you, I really like to share it.
I met my sister last week to celebrate my Mum's first birthday since her passing in April.
Over the past 2 or 3 years, Rosalind has been collaborating with Derbyshire artist, Michael Cook, to provide words which further explain his drawings. Their work is rooted in Christian theology, but has resonance which crosses all religious borders and reflects our humanity.
Whilst we were together, Rosalind gave me a flyer about Michael's latest initiative which will culminate in an exhibition in St Mary's Church, Nottingham next December. The subject is Advent - the period leading up to Christmas - which is a time of waiting. The question Rosalind & Michael ask, I thought was relevant to everyone, no matter what religious views you have or what feast you celebrate.
"Do you have thoughts, memories or a story about a time of waiting in your life? Perhaps you re waiting now; for some kind of news, for an answer to a question, for a birth or a death, for love?
Is it anxious waiting, or patient? Does it seem like a waste of time, or is it good or useful in some way? Is there meaning in the waiting?"
These are questions worth asking during this time of waiting. Are you waiting because you want to, have to or need to take space, or are you procrastinating or holding yourself back in some way?
If you are in a period of waiting at present, take time to enjoy the moment and the experience. Take time to reflect. If perhaps there's some action that needs to be taken, you can then approach the situation with fresh eyes and energy in the New Year. Standing back a little before 'jumping in the deep end' is a healthy and practical skill, which helps you maintain balance, in joyful and challenging situations.
You can share your own experience of waiting with Michael & Rosalind in the form of a poem, drawing or a few words. You can send your entry anonymously or you can sign it and your reflection may be incorporated into a piece of artwork by Michael. Email michael@hallowed-art.co.uk to enter or to hear about his exhibitions.
I wish I could show you Michael's drawing, "Seedling" in this newsletter. It's beautiful. If you'd like to see some of his work or to see where his work is on show, visit www.hallowed-art.co.uk
Meantime, enjoy this time of waiting and reflection. Take time to breathe and enjoy life. Be well and happy and please share your thoughts on this if you feel so inclined.
PLEASE PASS THIS INFO ON if you know anyone who is interested and ask them to sign up for regular updates on annie@breathingspacetherapies.com or 0772 581 8884
With love
