Greetings!
In our current society we tend to be very distrustful of anything that isn't 'proven', i.e. hasn't gone through clinical trials. And it is healthy to question things, especially when it comes to your health and happiness. However, we have to also bear in mind that skepticism can also shield the truth and avoid us accessing knowledge that is of real benefit.
Remember, there was a time when people laughed when others said the world was round - and now look where we are!
The practice of meditation is one of those subjects that can attract a lot of cynicism and we suddenly imagine ourselves floating off and becoming detatched in a rather surreal way from 'the real world'. But like a lot of these 'alternative' practices, there have been more studies than most of us are aware and the findings themselves are enlightening. Far from being something that keeps us 'out of ourselves' and from being 'airy fairy nonsense', regular meditation can, and does, enhance our daily experience, our health and our efficiency. In fact, its a regular practice of some of the world's most successful people. It also comes in a variety of forms and you don't necessarily have to sit cross-legged!
As reported by the world-famous Hale Clinic, modern science now acknowledges that regular meditation:
- Strengthens the immune system
- Balances the nervous system
- Gives you more energy
- Encourages cellular regeneration
- Improves brain function
- Improves concentration
On an emotional level, it also:
- Creates a deep sense of happiness
- Improves your ability to love
- Reduces stress
- Creates a sense of peace and calmness
- Increases self-confidence
- Develops intuition and creativity
On a spiritual (in it's broadest sense) level, meditation:
- Pathways to self-realization
- Awakens deep inner peace
- Strengthens patience and equanimity
- Bestows wisdom
Half an hour a day could give you all this, so if you're not doing it, why not?
There are many different ways of meditating and if you want to learn more, let me know. If enough of you respond, I'll run a group for a half day session or you can book a private session with me.
PLEASE PASS THIS INFO ON if you know anyone who is interested and ask them to sign up for regular updates on annie@breathingspacetherapies.com or 0772 581 8884
Look forward to hearing from you and be well and happy.
With love
