Start the Summer Right: Volunteer at One City Summer Kick Off


Saturday, June 16; Banneker Recreation Center: The One City Summer Kick Off provides District residents of all ages with a fun, interactive opportunity to learn about activities the city has available during the summer. It will be a lively, carnival atmosphere. Volunteers are needed in various capacities, including, but not limited to: crowd management, senior assistance, medical assistance, information, break down and more. Attention Foodies! Capital Area Food Bank Needs Your Help at Nat'l Association for the Specialty Food Trade Fancy Food Show


Tuesday, June 19, 2:00pm to 8:00pm;Walter E. Washington Convention Center:The Capital Area Food Bank has been designated as the official charity for the June 19th National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) Fancy Food Show. NASFT is donating more than 150,000 pounds of food to CAFB and they need volunteers to help collect donated items from the show's vendors. Volunteers should be at least 18 years old, able to lift 35 pounds, and commit to a full shift. The Fancy Food Show is North America's largest specialty food and beverage event with more than 2,000 vendors and 180,000 food products, including confections, cheese, coffee, snacks, spices and more. Be a Great Neighbor: Help the Latino Economic Development Center with Community Outreach for Annual Tenant Town Hall


Ongoing through Saturday, June 23: Volunteers are needed for citywide outreach in advance of the Latino Economic Development Center's (LEDC) 5th annual Tenant Town Hall, which gives DC renters an opportunity to engage with elected officials and housing agency representatives about their concerns, priorities, and recommended solutions. Bilingual volunteers (especially Spanish and Amharic) are ideal, but everyone is welcome. Volunteers will team up with LEDC staff to canvass neighborhoods and flyer at Metro Stations. LEDC is a community-based economic development organization dedicated to driving the economic and social advancement of low- to moderate-income Latinos and other residents by equipping them with the skills and tools to achieve financial independence and become community leaders. Celebrate Culture: Volunteer at the 3rd Annual DC Africa Festival


Saturday, July 21, 12:00pm to 7:00pm: The DC Mayor's Office on African Affairs (OAA) is looking for dynamic volunteers to take part in its 3rd Annual DC Africa Festival. The Festival uses art, dance, food and other forms of cultural and artistic expression to showcase African diversity in the District and the cultural connection of all people of African descent. Festival features include: music, dance, flag parade, craft village, fashion presentation, short-film festival, and more. Volunteers will provide support in a variety of capacities and should be able to commit at least eight hours before and/or during the event.
