Serve DC Welcomes Mission Continues Fellow: Anthony DeMarino, SSgt, USAF
Serve DC is proud to welcome Anthony DeMarino, SSgt, US Air Force, as part of the prestigious Mission Continues Fellowship, which engages and empowers post-9/11 veterans through community service and leadership. At Serve DC, Anthony will work to expand city efforts to support veterans, including engaging more veterans in meaningful service and as service leaders, and using service and volunteer opportunities to ease the transition to civilian life and as a path to employment. "For all of my friends that I have served with who have made the ultimate sacrifice, my life and how I choose to spend my time is their legacy," Anthony explains to Serve DC in a Memorial Day Tumblr Profile. "They have given so much for me and the community, the least I can do is continue to serve to ensure their immeasurable legacy continues."

Hurricane Season is Here! Are You Ready? Get Prepared with Serve DC & Partners

Hurricane season is here and Serve DC knows firsthand that informed, engaged citizens are critical to an effective emergency response. To help keep yourself, your family and your community safe this summer, we encourage you to check out these great resources from our emergency management partners: Each month, Serve DC offers free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training to anyone who lives or works in the District. The CERT program trains citizen volunteers to be better prepared for emergencies in their communities. CERT members support first responders, assist victims, manage other volunteers, and also help with non-emergency public safety projects.
