| Never Get An Overdraft Fee Again! |
Are you tired of getting overdraft fees from your bank?
Check out these 3 tips from Heidi Calhoun, Financial Organizer, to get you on track so you never receive one again:
-
Overdraft Protection-Most of the banks provide overdraft protection for their customers. Contact your bank to get your account enrolled.
-
Use your Check Register-Track your account balances, checks written, debit/ATM withdrawals, and deposits in your check register. Keep your checkbook with you and put all of your debit/ATM receipts in your register until you can write them down and track your balance. Transfer your receipts into your register every few days to ensure that you know your available balance. Don't just rely on what your "current balance" is from your bank.
-
Download your information into Quicken-Most of the banks have the ability to download your information directly into Quicken for FREE! Discover Organizing can help you set up your accounts in Quicken and develop a system that will work best for you so that you are always up to date with your spending, even if you forgot to keep the receipt or write down your information. |

| I Will Persist... |
For those of you who read my last newsletter, you will know that I had just finished my first 10K Run, and had proclaimed boldly that I would begin training for a half-marathon, or 13 miles. As the 10K is only 6.2 miles, I did the math, and then I began to quickly re-evaluate my goal! I came up with every excuse in the book, such as, "well, with the kids, the business, and all the traveling and speaking I am doing, maybe not right now..."
Then, in early June, while in the Rollier's Hardware parking lot, I bumped into Marnie, who had taken my scrapbooking class last year. She mentioned that she had read my article from April, and that she runs also. Let me just say now that Marnie is my age, my height, and several pounds lighter than I. She also has a 14 month old son, and works full time. I needed a running partner who wasn't tall, young, and faster than a gazelle (like my step-daughters), and oddly enough, so did she. Marnie and I run together whenever possible, and there are times when she brings her little boy in her large jogging stroller, pushing him up hills while running alongside of me. Marnie pushes me farther than I would ever have pushed myself, and she swears I do the same for her.
What I have learned is that we need not reach for a goal all by ourselves, especially one that can be daunting. I have my half-marathon, but you might have a basement full of memories, your mother's old furniture, and possibly some broken exercise equipment to tackle.
Do you need an organizing partner? Together we can do anything!

Start your Day the C.A.L.M. Way
Part one of five
Calm mornings start the night before!
Treat your body well by planning what you will eat the night before.
Check the options for breakfast. Nothing is more disappointing then anticipating a bowl of cereal only to find there is no milk. Mark the missing items on your grocery list and mentally make another choice.
Askif there are any food needs for tomorrow. Is it your turn to bring in coffee for the club? Are you responsible for snacks for children's or your own organizations and activities?
Lunches should be packed. If buying, have the funds ready including beverage money.
Make your dinner selection and take out anything that needs to be thawed.
