Representing more than 220 retail locations, Shawn has led a wide range of campaigns for Disney Store including the grand opening of Disney Store's first- ever retail location in Times Square and the launch of an award-winning new store design.
Shawn began her Disney career with Disney Consumer Products more than three years ago supporting their toy, stationery and food, health and beauty lines of business. She also managed key film franchise product launches including Disney's The Princess and the Frog, which became one of the top merchandising programs of 2009.
Prior to her time at Disney, Shawn spent more than two years working for global entertainment PR agency, Rogers & Cowan. Shawn got her start at boutique public relations firm Tobin & Associates, under the leadership of legendary publicist Pat Tobin. She has continually embraced new challenges, spearheading multi-faceted PR campaigns.
A native of Southern California, Shawn grew up in South Los Angeles, and entered UCLA as an English major in 1990. After graduating, she pursued her passion for writing and began a career as a journalist before eventually transitioning into public relations. She went on to serve a broad array of clients across industries including entertainment, consumer products, travel and tourism, and banking. Shawn was recently applauded for her accomplishments and recognized as one of PR Week's 40 Under 40 "One to Watch" http://www.prweekus.com/40-under-40-2011-ones-to-watch/slideshow/356/.
A proud Bruin, Shawn currently serves as the director of marketing and communications for the UCLA Black Alumni Association. She is also a member of the National Black Public Relations Society of America, and often meets with young professionals to mentor them as they take their first steps into the PR industry.

The UBAA Legacy Scholarship Campaign Needs Your Help!
We're making our push to raise funds for the 2011-2012 entering freshman class. We expect to give scholarships to a larger number of students this coming fall.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT | | |
Hello Black Bruins,
I know that you are enjoying summer and trying to stay cool so I'll keep this address short and sweet. Next year is an election year and many people will be asking for financial support. It is important that we support our students EVERY year in order to continue our legacy at UCLA. We have one year left to participate in the Bruin Advantage program that allows for each dollar we raise to be matched 3-to-1, therefore it is vital that we maximize our fundraising efforts now. Your volunteered time and financial support is needed and greatly appreciated. Please remember UBAA in your future giving. As always, we will continue to provide access to admitted African American students with our fundraising efforts and planning activities for Alumni that will keep us connected. Remember, making a one-time donation or donating just $10 per month or more online can help us to succeed in our commitment to our UCLA legacy. Go to www.uclablackalumni.org to donate or to become a UBAA member. Be a part of the Black Bruin Movement.
GO BRUINS!
