THE ALLNESS OF GOD
Salt of the Earth ~ Light of the World
During the month of APRIL Reverend
Glenda and Reverend Judy will focus on the bright possibilities and natural process of springtime ~ the season of renewal and rebirth.
They will help us take a fresh look at the idea that we are each in the midst of our own soul's 'great awakening' ~ the state of which is demonstrated in our outer conditions and in the intangible influence we radiate in the world; by the manner in which we embrace humanity as well as recognize and express divinity.
We will be invited to let our 'light' shine brightly through the 'earthly' life that we live so that our mere presence heals and blesses everything and everyone without special effort.
We will explore the idea that in the very midst of our own lives, the organic wholeness of life is resurrecting itself; born not through a savior or an elite group of individuals, but through everyone, in an awakening that is happening at the dawn of a new era.
They will help us look at the idea that humanity, individually and as a whole, is its own savior; that we must accept responsibility for this; that we each carry the 'light of the world'; and that we need to give this light back to the world.
We invite you to join us at Common Ground every Sunday for our 10:30 am inspirational service.

COM-MU-NI-TY
Bring-a-Friend Month
Common Ground is first and foremost a beautiful example of an inclusive, open, diverse, and accepting
spiritual community in which people come together to 'facilitate each other's becoming'.
There is emphasis on embracing wisdom teachings of different religious traditions and honoring all spiritual paths that have a foundation in love and kindness.
Studies show substantial evidence that people who feel a sense of belonging in community develop fewer psychiatric and depressive disorders than those who do not have the feeling of belonging. When a sense of community is present, both freedom and security exist as people become free enough to share and secure enough to get along.
Making a commitment to spiritual community reflects the deep yearning in every human soul for connection and compassionate understanding. The richness, diversity and complexity of Common Ground sets a field of energy in which the norms of tolerance, reciprocity, and trust are important "habits of the heart."
People often comment that it is difficult to find a 'church' like Common Ground that fits their needs and offers an inclusive spiritual community to support their soul's journey.
Many who find their way through the doors of Common Ground do so as a result of being invited by someone. In fact, general church growth and development statistics confirm that upwards of 75% of first time visitors to a place of worship do so as a result of invitation.
With this in mind, Common Ground has set aside the month of April as Bring-a-Friend Month. This is the perfect time of year to put new habits and new intentions into place. It is the perfect time to blossom into connection with spiritual community.
Reverend Glenda and Reverend Judy encourage everyone to share Common Ground with friends and family. Of course, they recognize the openness of what Common Ground offers may not be for everyone. At the same time, they realize that experiencing the spiritual community first hand will provide people with an opportunity to decide for themselves whether or not it is a fit .
Take this opportunity to share Common Ground with family and friends!
Everyone who brings a friend during the month of April will receive a Starbucks Card eGift, compliments of Common Ground.

FOCUS ON THE ENVIRONMENT
From Tubes to Tomatoes
It's time to think about growing your own summer vegetables. You don't need a large plot of land, just some good planning and the desire to try out your green thumb.
Many options are available to get the most out of a small garden space. Gardening in containers or planting a square foot garden are perfect solutions.
You can get started now by growing your own seedlings and keeping them indoors to sprout. In the long run, this could help save money. A whole pack of seeds is generally less than individual plants from a nursery.
There are many ways to start seeds using recycled household materials. A favorite way is reusing cardboard paper towel and toilet paper rolls.
Simply cut toilet paper rolls in half (cut paper towel rolls into fourths) and fill them with a seed starting medium such as potting soil or compost, vermiculite, or a formulated mixture of elements for starting seeds. It's a great way to recycle, and the sprouts don't have to be transplanted from plastic pots.
When the weather warms up and the sprouts are ready for planting the entire tube can simply be buried in the ground.
Cucumbers, tomatoes, mint, and parsley are easy to grow and can be managed nicely in a small space.
When ready to harvest, consider trying your hand at this easy recipe from FoodNetwork.com.
Tabouli
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup fine cracked wheat
1 cup minced fresh parsley leaves
1/2 cup minced fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
3 tomatoes, diced
2 cucumbers, seeded and diced
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons lemon juice, or to taste
1 teaspoons sea salt
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, pour the water over the cracked wheat and cover, let stand about 20 minutes until wheat is tender and water is absorbed.
Add the chopped herbs and vegetables and toss with the mix.
Combine the oil, lemon juice, and salt in a separate bowl. Add to wheat mixture and mix well. Chill. Serve and enjoy.

YOUNG ADULTS' BOOK STUDY
Cultivating Generation Y
Common Ground is pleased to welcome to spiritual community a growing number of young adults. They bring with them a unique perspective and experience of the world.
Often known as Gen Y or the Millennial Generation, this group has grown up with the Internet at their fingertips. The world to them is virtual and the possibilities are endless. They are growing in adulthood, and therefore becoming increasingly important in world affairs.
Through personal experience with the digital world, they embrace what Llewellyn Vaughan Lee refers to as 'the network of light' ~ the growing capacity to align individual consciousness with the patterns of energy that flow throughout the planet.
Common characteristics of Generation Y include the following:
They are attracted to those who 'walk the talk' and disinterested in those who 'try to pull the wool over their eyes'
They tend to be more tolerant of differences than earlier generations
They can focus fully on many variables at once
They are known for caring about the world and its problems
They tend to be strong-willed, passionate, and optimistic
There is a sense of immediacy and they have great expectations
Twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 pm, young adults will meet in the Salon at Common Ground to explore and discuss various topics. Contemporary books by well known authors will provide the springboard for discussion.
The exploration and discussion will be co-facilitated by Lyla Ramirez and Lissette Garcia. They have chosen Deepak Chopra's book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, as their first area of study.
While the group is open, the focus of the group will be geared to meet the needs and experiences of young adults. If you were born in the range of the mid 70's through the mid to late 90's, this is a group you will want to check out. Come be part of this dynamic opportunity to step into the energy of "Generation Y Not".
Mark your calendar now. Plan to give the group a try.
