CSI Mourns the Death of Senator John J. Marchi
The College of Staten Island extends its condolences on the death of Senator John J. Marchi, consummate statesman, tireless leader, and staunch friend. The legacy of Senator Marchi is unmatched and no institution benefited more than CSI. His unwavering support was the foundation of the College of Staten Island and his continued advocacy built our world-class, 204-acre campus.
Senator Marchi's influence and steadfast encouragement infused every milestone and achievement the College has reached. His presence on the campus and the Island will be missed, but he will always be remembered at CSI as a founding father. The College community sends its deepest sympathy to Maria Luisa, his children, and family.

New Associate Provost Appointed
 Provost Bill Fritz has announced the appointment of Dr. Susan Holak as the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness at the College of Staten Island, following a nationwide search and with extensive campus participation.
Dr. Holak has served as the Interim Associate Provost at the College of Staten Island since 2007. Her prior positions at CSI include Director, Macaulay Honors College (2005-2007); Deputy Director, Honors College (2004); Marketing Area Chairperson, Department of Business (2003-2007); Master's Program Development Coordinator, Department of Business (2000-2005), and she is a tenured Professor in the Department of Business.

New Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs
College of Staten Island President Dr. Tomás Morales has announced the appointment of Ms. Barbara R. Eshoo as the new Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs at CSI, effective June 15, 2009, following a nationwide search and extensive campus participation.
Ms. Eshoo is a strategic advancement professional with broad experience in all aspects of development. She is also an experienced manager and leader whose recent positions include Senior Vice President for Association Advancement, YMCA of Metropolitan Hartford, Inc; Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Liaison to the ECSU Foundation, Eastern Connecticut State University; Chief Development Officer, Daniel Webster College; and Chief Public Relations Officer, The Currier Museum of Art. Students, Administrators Have a Conversation
Students and administrators at the College of Staten Island gathered today for an informal opportunity to discuss what was on their minds concerning the College, with a particular approach to making CSI a better institution.
CSI President Dr. Tomás Morales, who was joined by Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. William Fritz, Vice President for Technology Systems Dr. Michael Kress, Vice President for Finance and Administration Milton Santiago, and Interim Vice President Robert Huber, fielded questions from students on a wide range of topics from parking issues to what CSI can do to promote world peace. Vision for Staten Island Reality Check Workshops: Where the Intuitive Meets the Informed Vision for Staten Island makes progress in bringing the community's vision to reality. This independent not-for-profit has initiated a "visioning" project, which serves to bring the Staten Island community together with public and private leaders to create an inclusive and comprehensive vision for the future.
The process continues with Reality Check Workshops scheduled for May 6 and 7 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at P.S. 58, located at 77 Marsh Avenue in New Springville.
Vision for Staten Island is a process of continuous refinement of the ideas gathered from the public. Vision for Staten Island's Idea Gatherings held between December 2008 and February 2009 resulted in over 2,800 ideas contributed by nearly 900 members of the community.
