CSI Powers Down for Earth Hour
The College of Staten Island joined other City University of New York campuses and cities around the world last Saturday by participating in Earth Hour, an international effort to save energy around the planet by turning off lights and reducing power consumption for one hour.
Beginning at 8:30pm last Saturday, the College turned off its informational marquee sign at the campus entrance; lights were turned off in skylit areas of the Campus Center, the Library, and the Center for the Arts (unless classes or events were scheduled there); and Campus Peace Officers (CPOs) used bicycles exclusively for patrol of the campus.

Student Leadership Conference Features Two "Thrilling" Keynote Speakers
The College of Staten Island hosts its Second Annual Leadership Conference entitled "Students Impacting Communities" on Friday, April 3, in the Campus Center.
The conference will communicate and demonstrate the importance of leaders and leadership as well as the need for students to have an impact and to make a difference in our communities.

Joe Rende Joins CSI Foundation Board
The Foundation of the College of Staten Island has announced that Joe Rende, Vice President of Energy Solutions Services, Metro New York, for National Grid, is the newest member of its Board of Directors. Rende was voted in by the Board at its meeting last December.
In 1985 Rende joined Brooklyn Union as a Management Trainee. Since then, he has progressed up through Brooklyn Union and later KeySpan Energy, holding Director positions in Key Account Sales, Long Island Regional Sales, and Corporate Marketing. He was promoted to his current position of Vice President Energy Solutions Services in July of 2007.

Men's Tennis drop nailbiting match to Baruch, 5-4
The men's tennis team took a tough loss to the Baruch College Bearcats in a game that went down to the wire, 5-4. The Dolphins dropped their overall record to 3-4 while taking their first CUNYAC loss, 1-1. The Bearcats extend their CUNYAC record to 2-0.

New Dorp's Final Tune-up before National Competition

Congratulations! VE Management & Insurance had an outstanding 2nd place finish in the nationwide finals! VE Law placed in the top six.

"Given my line of work, I am also especially proud to see young people take this direction and perform so well. These teams exemplify excellence, and their dedication to success is evident. They are a source of pride for New Dorp, CSI and Staten Island. They represent all that our young people can be, and are winning examples of what students can achieve."
