PELLEGRINAGGIO IN ITALIA XII
The Center for Augustinian Study and Legacy announces that plans are well underway for the twelfth Pellegrinaggio in Italia. It will take place during Spring Break in the Spring semester of 2011: Thursday, March 17 - Saturday, March 26, 2011.  This is an invitation to all Merrimack College Alumni members who may wish to apply to join us for another journey to Augustinian Italy. Application forms may be obtained by contacting Fr. Jim Wenzel, O.S.A. either at 978-837-5219 or by email: james.wenzel@merrimack.edu. The cost will be $3,400.00 with a $400.00 supplement for a private room.  Currently, thirty-seven students have applied; 18 to 20 will be accepted. Some five staff members and friends have also applied. Thank you for considering this invitation.

Prayers and Support for Merrimack Alumni
Tom Simpson '75 is a past President of the Alumni Association and is in desperate need of prayers and supports from our Merrimack community.  On Thursday evening, January 21st, Tom fell and in so doing sustained a severe spinal cord injury that has left his arms and legs paralyzed.  Tom is now a patient in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.  Visit www.friendsofthomassimpson.com for more information about how to help!
 
Lisa (Hayes) Mullen '94 is reaching out to alums for support for her son Christopher.  Christopher was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma at just 18 months of age.  Christopher has relapsed, and his friends and family are hosting this event and donating all the proceeds to the NB Alliance.  Visit www.nightofhope.net for more information.

Merrimack College will celebrate its 60th Commencement on May 23, 2010 featuring critically acclaimed author Ron Hansen as the keynote speaker. Honorary degrees will be conferred upon Hansen, Rev. James Wenzel '52, and Bridget Shaheen '68.
 
Merrimack Student Highlighted For Donating Stem Cells to Sick Boy
Stephen Ramunno, a 19-year-old sophomore health sciences major at Merrimack, recently anonymously donated stem cells to a five-year-old boy with leukemia. He was surprised to learn that he was a five out of five match for the patient. His story was recently featured on WBZ-TV Ch. 4 news.  View the WBZ-TV news clip.
 
Merrimack College received a generous $25,000 grant from the Danversbank Charitable Foundation in support of renovations to O'Reilly Hall, the home of the Girard School of Business and International Commerce.
 
Andover resident and leader of Temple Emanuel Rabbi Dr. Robert S. Goldstein has been named this year's "Friend of the Year" by The Friends of Merrimack College for his outstanding involvement in the Friends organization and Merrimack College Community.
 
Renowned art for activism artist Sidewalk Sam was the featured guest during Merrimack's 1st Annual Blue, Gold, and Green Festival - an event highlighting sustainable and "green" programs.
 
Annual Senior Business Series Teaches Networking, Etiquette Skills 
Each year, the Girard School of Business and International Commerce and Alumni Relations partner to offer a two-part Senior Business Series to help prepare graduating business students with business etiquette and networking skills.

Athletics
Gabrielle Gramprey (Brockton, MA) and James Suozzo (Everett, MA) were named the Merrimack College Athletes of the Year Thursday night at the Annual End-of-Year Student-Athlete Banquet in the Sakowich Campus Center.  Kelly Pasquantonio (Plainville, MA) and Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) were selected as the Male and Female Scholar Athletes of the Year.
 
Numerous Merrimack student-athletes were honored on April 27 for their academic and leadership achievements at the annual President Scholar Honors Convocation. Sixty-five student-athletes have a GPA of 3.5 or above and will be named to the Merrimack Athletic Department Honor Roll.
 
For the third straight year, the Merrimack College men's tennis team has earned a trip to the 62-team NCAA tournament after a second straight trip to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.
