Greetings!

Welcome to the new and improved eCourier!

This week is the first issue we are producing and sending the eCourier with the help of Constant Contact. You will find all of the same Conference and Association news and events as before, but now it is better organized and hopefully, more reader-friendly.

The first section will always contain news that impacts the entire Conference. The next three sections will be organized by Association - in case you only have a few moments to scan your emails, you can now get straight to the news that is impacting your Association. In the next sections you'll find upcoming events and job opportunities.

Within the column on the right, you'll find a handy table of contents with links that take you directly to each section. You'll see links to frequently used webpages like the Conference calendar and website. There is even a link to the Scripture readings for this coming Sunday (courtesy of the National UCC website). Below those links you'll find a message from Conference Minister, Rev. Jeff Whitman.

I hope you like the new format and continue to find these weekly emails useful and informative.
I appreciate your feedback and article ideas, so feel free to send me an email anytime julie@mmsucc.org.

Thanks so much,

Julie Simmons
Communications Specialist, MMSUCC

You Can Still Come to Camp!

It is not too late to sign up and attend Camp MoVal this summer. Even though the early discount time has elapsed, there is still time to sign your camper up for a wonderful and nurturing experience that camp provides. Each year Camp MoVal seeks to provide children, youth and families with dynamic programs that provide opportunities to explore the outdoors, create personal growth, make new friends and explore their faith in God.

This year, the theme will explore the parables that Jesus used to teach the word. As in the day of Jesus, communication is the way people interact with one another in their daily lives. From this tradition of oral teaching, campers discover what Christ taught still has meaning and impacts their lives today. For more information, please call the camp office at 636-583-2730 or email me at Jeremy.moval@mmsucc.org The staff looks forward to having all attend camp.

God's Peace,

Jeremy Force

Conference Minister Reflections

By Rev. Jeff Whitman

Jeff Whitman

Friends: Last week I wrote an article for the eCourier about our church in St. Clair, Missouri and their exclusion from playing in the St. Clair church softball league. I want to thank those who responded to the article. James Darnell, the pastor at St. Clair, told me he read the article to his congregation on Sunday. Another pastor wrote to tell me he was sending last week's eCourier to the members of his congregation. Some of you have written wonderful reflections that I have not had the time to respond to. We are working on setting up a blog so that we can have a conference wide conversation about issues and stories such as these - just not there yet.   As a follow-up to the article I want to share links to two stories that appeared yesterday in St. Louis. One on News Channel 5 and the other in the St. Louis Post Dispatch on StlToday.com. I encourage you to keep James and the people at St. John in your prayers as they seek to provide a bold and faithful witness to a gospel of radical hospitality.
