September 2011

3 lily pads
Greetings!

Is our happiness and what we want in our lives really just as simple as having "good intentions"? Why is it, then, that a lot of the time intention isn't enough. Perhaps the "real secret" is much deeper...

I often liken it to a car with all the shiny parts but no gas in it. We can have all the right thoughts and intentions, but without a source of power, they remain unfulfilled. The only inexhaustible source of power is a steady, consistent connection to the Divine itself.

The Ancients understood that you cannot use your mind to fix your mind. This would be like using something that is malfunctioning to correct something that is malfunctioning. Instead, they suggest that we use the body (breathing, posture, movement) to regulate the mind. Once the mind is balanced and calm, allow the mind to lead the Qi. Qi will bring health and vitality to the body and the body will maintain a clear and tranquil mind. Fortunately, we don't have to figure out how to do this. The science of Qi Gong and Yoga have mapped these techniques out with clarity and efficiency. The original purpose of these traditions was to remove any resistance to the Divine Light that surrounds and permeates all of existence. The result is Unity, Samadhi or merging with the Tao...etc, etc...and from what I've heard there 's really no end to it. The Secret of the Golden Flower says, "No fish is aware of the water he swims in". The Source is readily accessible and available to everyone....something I have to remind myself of quite often!

Namaste,
Anisha

Five Element Acupuncture

In China, before the Cultural Revolution, acupuncture wFive E chartas used therapeutically. It was integrated into the structure of life. Not so much to fix a problem as to assist in prevention, wisdom and destiny. Now, acupuncture is often thought of as a drug or infusion. People think to come for a session after a symptom or problem has become a pattern. Our bodies are often now imagined to be machines. We desire an instant tune-up so that we can have constant high performance vehicles.

A better image is that we are like gardens, we have cycles and fluctuations. Times of disease can point to deeper learning and teach us how to better tend our gardens.

Five Element Acupuncture is able to assist the body in returning to its true nature. As with gardening, change takes time and consistency. As the "garden" receives regular care, it begins to be appropriate to the seasons. This is the first stage of healing that can occur. The possibilities move then into realms of transformation that possess alchemical qualities, actualization of potential and a return to our core self.

"To wait for illness to develop before remedying it, for the disorder to form before taking care of it, is to wait until one is thirsty to dig a well." -Neijing Suwen, ch.2

Dear Fellow Practitioners,

Recently, and in an ongoing fashion, I have had the privilege of working with Paul Fraser. I have benefited from his Medical Qi Gong practice first as a patient and now as a practitioner, and it is with great enthusiasm for and confidence in this healing work that I write to you in hopes of bringing his knowledge and wisdom to North Carolina acupuncturists, psychologists, social workers, other medical professionals and healers.

As noted, I can speak from personal experience as to the remarkable transformative nature of these healing arts. Realizing that this course represents a considerable commitment of time and monetary resources, I am certain that through this study and practice we can enhance the effectiveness of our treatments while increasing our own strength and well-being at the same time.

Please review the attached course description and brochure. For any questions or comments, and for reserving your spot in the course, please contact me at the phone number or email address below.

The first weekend will be September 9, 10, and 11, 2011, with study one weekend every other month with a total of six weekends.  (Friday 4-8pm, Sat and Sun 9am-5pm). Tuition will be $2500 and seating is limited to 30.  Interested students may take the first weekend which teaches the foundations of this work and may decide if they want to continue with the course in its entirety.

The second weekend will be January 13-15, 2012 and every other month after that.  Please consult the brochure for the exact dates.

Thank you for your consideration of this remarkable and profound healing art and our opportunity for practice and personal enrichment. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
