The dog days of summer are upon us. Forecast: days will be hot and humid, followed by evenings that will be hot and humid ...here in North Central Florida anyway. Usually, the temperatures drop to a more comfortable level by mid-September. Let's hope the cooler weather shows up earlier this year.

So, what can a Florida RVer do during the dog days of August? One could head north or northwest to some of the many August festivals around the country. Here are some of the trips you could consider ...

450-mile Outdoor Festival - It's like a huge yard sale from Covington, KY to Gadsden, AL.

Bayfront Blues Festival - Duluth, MN

Blues on the Chippewa - Durand, WI

Humungus Fungus Festival - Crystal Falls, MI

Newport Jazz Festival - Newport, RI

Old Fiddlers Convention - Galax, VA

Philadelphia Folk Festival - Philadelphia, PA

Potato Feast Days - Houlton, ME

You only live once, I think. So, pack up and head out. Maybe you'll find cooler weather at your destination. But, first, come on by for any RV service you need, fill the LP tanks and stock up on RV supplies. I hope to see you soon.

I have often written about the importance of checking your RV roof for cracks in both the roofing material and the caulking. Failure to maintain a sealed roof can only lead to problems. Water will seep in and eventually destroy the plywood underlayment, the interior walls and even the floor. Replacing an RV roof can be a very expensive proposition.

To avoid this kind of repair you must check your roof caulking at least twice a year here in Florida. If you can't do it yourself call me to schedule an inspection.

The photos below illustrate what happens when you neglect your rubber roof. Click on each to enlarge the photo.

Most RVs come equipped with a basic shower head. Often time this leaves something to be desired. Well come on in to the store and look at our selection of aftermarket, RV shower heads. They are easy to install and easy on your wallet.
If you have four tires on your motor home or tow vehicle rear axle ("dually") and do not have valve extensions, you must be a glutton for punishment. Checking the air pressure and adding air to the inside dually is at best a pain in the you know where. That's why we stock and recommend valve extension systems. It really does make your RVing less of a pain and more of a pleasure.

Although This time of year is usually slow, we are seeing a lot of traffic on the yard. New and pre-owned units are moving off the lot while trade-ins and new units are coming in.

We always do our best to treat our new and repeat customers well. Here's what one new customer wrote about his experience ...

"Picked up my Jayco 1206 Pop Up yesterday, 7/30/2011. Wayne Borecki was very helpful. ... Big thank you also to Wayne (Service) for patience.  Great sales and service. Blessings!"
