Card Collecting - Library Style

NWRL

Many people enjoy collecting things as a recreational hobby. As children, we begin collecting favorite rocks or books or things our parents looked twice at us for collecting! As we grew, collections would be more "normal," and by that it could be Hello Kitty or Smurf or some sort of character item for girls, and for boys, typically trading cards of some style or other would be considered cool - with many a transaction being made out on the playground. As adults, we also collect. Stamps, dishes, maybe even those   baseball cards are still a past time. The point is, we enjoy developing a collection.

This past month, NWRL received a request for something by a California man to add to his collection. It was our library card! In his request, he let us know that his library card collection contained well over 3,000 cards, including those from over 50 countries and every continent.   Now THAT'S an interesting collection!

Of course, we sent him the card!

This is what the NWRL card looks like when a patron first receives it. There is the wallet size card, a key fob, and a bookmark. Each one can be used to reserve online and check out in-library materials from any of NWRLs library branches or LINK sites located in Red Lake Falls, Warren, Thief River Falls, Roseau, Warroad, Greenbush, Hallock, Grygla LINK or Karlstad LINK.
