"A Turn in the Road" Takes a Ride on the Train

NWRL

Obviously, reading a book is an enjoyable way to pass the time. We are transported to different places, whether in time or space or location. Recently, one of our books not only took a reader on an adventure, but also went on an adventure all its own!

"A Turn in the Road" by Debbie Macomber started out its day as many books do, waiting to be read. A patron from Northwest Regional Library soon ended that wait, checking "A Turn..." out from the library and taking it along on a trip aboard an Amtrak train to Chicago.

"A Turn in the Road" was taking a ride on the train!

The ride must have proved too exciting or scary for the little book, because it hid itself from its reader, who forgot it on the train. Oh no! Where was "A Turn in the Road" to turn to for help to get home?

Luckily, a kind and caring person found "A Turn..." and realized that this friendly book was far from home. She called to say it had been found, that it would soon be home to its familiar shelf, and to let the patron and librarian know not to worry. Now the "A Turn..." would get an inside, behind the scenes look at the Post Office, travelling by Priority Mail to the Headquarters of Northwest Regional Library and then finally back to its library home. A happily ever after ending for a wonderful book!

Thank you to the person who took the time to recognize the book as lost and to return it to the address stamped inside!

Oddly enough, "A Turn in the Road" is a book whose story centers around a road trip taken by three women - a mother, her daughter, and former mother-in-law, each with a their own tale of interesting relationship path choices. From one end of the country to another, this is a trip that could change the three women's lives.

Give "A Turn in the Road" a read. Just don't leave it on the train!
