NWRL Endowment Fund

NWRL

NWRL has begun the preliminary work to create an Endowment Fund through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation. A committee is currently working on the details and will have the fund in place by late Fall.

The NWRL Board approved the application for the fund which will be submitted to the Foundation Board in July. It is the intention of the NWRL Board to see a separate funding stream available to NWRL for library services. Knowing that tax dollars are becoming scarce, leaving library services at risk, the Board recognized the need for an endowment fund to supplement tax dollars in providing critical services to the public.

The Endowment Fund will not replace the support of local Friends of the Library groups who work diligently each year as volunteers, fund raisers and advocates of library services. Instead, the Endowment Fund will be used for region-wide services that are shared equally by all NWRL libraries.

The start-up funding required for the Endowment Fund will be provided by a generous donation from the Gene and Gretchen Beito Foundation. NWRL has received annual funding from this Foundation which has generated new services such as e-books used by residents throughout the five-county area. It is hoped that additional funding will come forth from other sources in the region to provide for the continuation/creation of additional region-wide services.

Please contact Barbara Jauquet-Kalinoski, NWRL Director, for further information about the Fund.
