NWRL Delivery Service

NWRL

Have you ever wanted a book but the library didn't have it on hand? Did you librarian say, "I can get that title from another library."?

If you have every received a book through delivery you have taken advantage of  this great service that all libraries in Minnesota utilize.

Delivery services make all library collections easily accessible. Statewide, millions of items are shared each year by local libraries. With over 100,000 books published each year, sharing materials is the only way for libraries to serve the diverse needs of all the patrons in a local community.

How many materials were delivered to patrons in NWRL?

In NWRL, 42,607 items are delivered to patrons through their community libraries each year. While half of these items are borrowed from other NWRL libraries, a good share is from libraries throughout Minnesota. This service is available to patrons in our community because our library is part of NWRL.

How much does this cost?

The cost of providing delivery service to libraries has increased because the number of requests has increased.

In 2000, 9,256 items were delivered to NWRL patrons. In 2011 the number was 42,607. Thus current costs to provide service three days per week is $40,000
