New Self-Check Outs

Roseau and Warroad Public Libraries
If you have been in the Roseau or Warroad Library recently you might have noticed a few new computers. These are the newly installed Self-Check Out Stations.

These self-check out stations have been installed per the NWRL Board's plan for eventually putting self-check out stations in other Northwest Regional Library Branches.

The Thief River Falls branch of NWRL has had self-check outs for roughly 4 years now. Here are some of the great things about self-check outs:

  • Young kids LOVE checking out their own books. After story time at the Thief River Falls Library the kids line up to check out their books.
  • They allow patrons privacy to check out books that may be of a sensitive subject matter.
  • They free up the Librarian to help with reference questions, or to help patrons find that certain book they are looking and all the rest of the little details that make the library run smoothly.
  • They cut down on the time patrons wait to check out their books.
  •  In Thief River Falls, nearly half of the check outs are done on the self-check stations.

So next time you are checking out a book in Thief River Falls, Warroad, or Roseau, give the self-check a try. The librarians are more then happy to show you how to start checking out books on your own!
