Book Fair!

Warroad Library

The Warroad Public Library, in conjunction with Book World from Park Rapids, is holding its 18th Annual Book Fair. The event will open with a day of Special Events on Sunday, November 20, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and continue throughout the next two weeks until it closes on another special events day on December 4, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The opening day events will include "old-time music with a twist" by the Highway 11 Ramblers, craft displays, a silent auction, and free cookies!

This Book Fair allows Warroad-area people, who have no access to a local book store, a chance to shop through hundreds of books for gifts and as supplements to their personal collections. Because the event is sponsored by the non-profit Warroad Library, there is no sales tax. As a special bonus, the library is also offering free gift-wrapping!

The Warroad Library benefits as well. First of all, 20% of the proceeds go to the library, always a blessing! Secondly, librarians get a chance to peruse books before they purchase them to assess whether the book would be a worthwhile addition to the library's collection. Once they determine the books' value to the library, they can then purchase the books on-the-spot rather than having to wait for the packages to come several weeks later.

It's a wonderful event that enhances the library's already great importance to the community and provides area shoppers a chance to get some great gifts for Christmas.
