Happening This Week

 

In the Hallock Library this week join Peggy for story hour on Tuesday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m. for 'Color Investigation.' Join us Thursday, September 22, at 6:30 p.m. for pumpkin painting with Geri. 

 

Come to the Greenbush Library for pre-school story time on Tuesday, September 20, at 10:30 a.m. The book club will  meet Wednesday, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. at the "old library." We are discussing the book The Help, by Katheryn Stockett. 

 

Come to the Red Lake Falls Library for Permanent Ink writers group meeting on Wednesday, September 21, at  5:30 p.m. On Thursday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m. join us for Family Fun Night with an Ice cream Social. And finally, on Friday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. is pre-school story time.  

 

Story time at the Roseau Library is Tuesday, September 20, at 10:30 a.m. Join us Thursday, September 22, at 5:00 p.m. for Family Fun Night! 

 

Teen events start up this week at the Thief River Falls Library. During the school year, there is a teen event every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Teens ages 12-18 are welcome. On September 20, teens will be making Sand Art bracelets! Snacks are provided. On Thursday, September 22, at 6:45 p.m. the story time theme will be Almost (Almost big enough? Almost there?). Join us for a story and a craft.

 

On Monday, September 19, at 6:00 p.m. it is Classic Movie Night at the Warren Library. Wednesday, September 21, at 3:30 p.m. join us for Craft Day. We will be celebrating  National Collect Rocks Day, which is September 16. Bring in a rock or two to paint, please no rocks bigger then a small loaf of bread. The Mystery Book Club will be meeting Thursday, September 22, at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death, by M.C. Beaton and Split Second, by David Baldacci. 

 

Come and support the Warroad Librarian Barb on Saturday, September 17, as she walks with her dog Beijing in the "Walk to End Alzheimer's" Her team name is:  "A Librarian, a Dog and Wide Open Spaces to Trot."

Teen Poet  

Grygla Link Library

Sophomore, Colleen Jelen, a patron of the Grygla Link Library, entered 'The World Poetry Movement' online contest earlier this year. Her poem will be published in a book called Stars in Our Hearts, coming out in October. The name of her poem is 'Friendship is All Around.' Congratulations Colleen!

Author William Kent Krueger To Visit 

Warroad and Greenbush Library 
On Thursday, September 29, Author William Kent Krueger will be at the Greenbush and Warroad libraries to talk about his latest book Northwest Angle. In which our own Barb Larson, librarian at the Warroad Library, is a character!

Mr. Krueger will be in Greenbush at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. A light lunch will be served. Please contact the library to reserve your spot as seating is limited.

From Greenbush Mr. Krueger will head up to the Warroad Library for "An Evening with the Lake People,"all those who have lived, worked, and enjoyed their time at Lake of the Woods.  


At 6:00 p.m. Mingle...Munch on Snacks...Swap Stories---other lake authors will be in attendance.

At 7:00 p.m. Author William Kent Krueger will speak of his experiences writing a mystery novel set at the Northwest Angle.

The Friends of the Library are holding a fund raiser around the event with nine awesome raffle items:

a copper mirror 

a bird house,  

metal garden flower,  

concrete bird bath,  

106 quart container of Mega Blocks,  

a bushel of children's books,  

six towers of adult bestsellers,  

jeweled clipboard,

or Be a Character in William Kent Krueger's upcoming novel.



The items have all been donated. Buy a book of 10 tickets for $5.00 dollars. The tickets were set up so that you initial what you want to win. There will be a drawing for each item; therefore your chances of winning are greatly increased!
