Happening This Week

 

A woman stopped in the library and after walking around for awhile, she came and said she would be moving here in the winter. She said "I've already seen so much in here I'd like to read, authors I love, more than I can find in my home library. I can't wait to get back here, get a library card and use your library."  

 

Its Limbo Time! Join the Greenbush Library for a Hawaiian Luau with treats, limbo contest, Guess-how-many Seas Shells game, and prizes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10. Dress up in your favorite Hawaiian costume! This is also our summer reading program wrap-up! Award ceremony for our summer readers will start at 6:30 p.m.  

   

Join Karen at the Grygla Link Library on Thursday, August 11, for story time at 6:30 p.m. 

 

Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12, Deborah Elias Danza will conduct a 5-day arts residency sharing dance, music and culture. Classes will be Monday through Friday in Hallock at 9:30 and 10:30 with a performance on Friday evening at 7:00 at the Hallock City Hall. Boys and girls of all ages, men, women, everyone is welcome. This program is funded by a grant from the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council. Come to the Hallock Library for story time on Tuesday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. for "Spanish Day." On Thursday, August 11, come to the library for "Astronomy" from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. is the Flamenco performance at the Hallock City Hall. 

 

Come into the Red Lake Falls Library on Wednesday, August 10, for Writers Inc. Group at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome either to join in or just sit in and see what it's all about. Book sale items will be half off on Thursday, August 11, during the Red Lake Falls Street Fair/Crazy Daze Event.  

 

Join the Roseau Library for story time Tuesday, August 9, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, at 5:00 p.m. is Movie Night. Come in with the family for a great movie! 

 

Kids 13 to 18 who are looking for something to do are invited to come to the Thief River Falls Library on Wednesday, August 10, at 3:00 p.m. for Bingo!  Local poet Sarah Nour will be at the Thief River Falls Library on Thursday, August 11, at 6:00 p.m.  Sarah has just published her first book of poetry and will be doing readings as well as talking about the self-publishing experience.  

 

The week of August 8 through 12, Godel Library and WAO Community Education will be hosting "Flamenco Dance Camp" to be held at the WAO High School Auditorium.  Deborah Elias Danza Espanola will conduct the 5-day art learning residency, sharing flamenco dance, music, and culture. Students will create their own group dance that they will share at the public performance. Boys, girls, and adults of all ages are welcome. Children pre-k and must be accompanied by an adult. There is no cost to participate. On Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m., come and see the public performance. Come and learn what flamenco is all about! To pre-register, please call Dawn at the library 745-5465.  

 

Join the Warroad Library on Tuesday,  August 9, at 7:00 p.m., for  "Jazz Standards" by Doug Voice, pianist. He will be playing old favorites, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and more. On Saturday August 13, at 1:00 p.m., come for the Summer Reading Program Wrap-up Party: Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride. Everybody is invited. Come for dancing singing and fun, fun fun!

Local Poet Sara Nour Chamma

Thief River Falls Library  

 

  

Local poet Sara Nour will be at the Thief River Falls Public Library on Thursday, August 11, at 6:00 p.m. to talk about her self-published book God from the Machine, and Other Poems. She will also be talking about the self-publishing process.  

 

Sara was born and raised in Thief River Falls. She attended college at Minnesota State University-Moorehead, where she majored in English and Theatre Arts. She has been writing poems and stories since she learned how to write. She is inspired by a wide variety of things.

Flamenco Dancing  

Hallock and Warren Libraries   

 

Monday August 8 through August 12,  Deborah Elias Danza will conduct a 5-day arts residency sharing flamenco dance, music and culture in Hallock and Warren.

Classes will be Monday through Friday in Hallock at 9:30 and 10:30 with a performance on Friday evening at 7:00 at the Hallock City Hall.

 In Warren the Flemenco dance classes will be held in the WAO High School Auditorium, with a public performance Saturday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. To pre-register in Warren, please call Dawn at the library at 745-5465.

Everyone is welcome: boys and girls of all ages, men and women. Children pre-k and under must be accompanied by an adult with. There is no cost to participate. Come and learn what flamenco is all about!
