Stomp the Monster™ Team makes Christmas a little brighter for local family
TOM'S RIVER, NJ - A rapid-response team from Stomp the Monster recently joined forces with the East Dover Volunteer Fire Department to make Christmas a little brighter for a local family who is fighting the battle with cancer.
"Jackie" was balancing the demands of cancer treatments with caring for her five grandchildren, ages 2 - 8. On December 16, Jackie's birthday, the family was surprised when Santa arrived at their home on a fire truck, with lights and sirens blaring. Stomp the Monster volunteers Seth Grumet (founder) and daughter Mariah, Dan Fishman, and Tom Vogel delivered trays of lasagna, chicken, and vegetables. There were also gifts for all the children (including a Christmas tree). According to Jackie, it was "the best birthday present anyone can ever ask for".

Sponsorship Update
We've been making great progress with sponsorship for the 5K, and continue to work on more. Some of our sponsors are indicated below - among them is Fajji's, who will be present with a brand new flavor of ice cream for Stomp the Monster.
Stomp the Monster would not be possible without help. Thanks to all our sponsors!
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Dan Fishman (d.fishman@stompthemonster.org) |

Seth Update We know that there are a lot of Friends of Seth who want to know what's going on. Back in December, shortly after Seth's first round of Chemo, two new tumors appeared in a PET scan. These were successfully biopsied and confirmed as new Hodgkin's lymphoma. Seth has recovered from the biopsy (which also removed at least part of one tumor), and undergone three chemo sessions for round two. Because this was less effective than desired, Seth has been switched to a new regimen (GVD), and has completed one cycle of that (two chemo treatments in consecutive weeks, followed by a week off). Seth will undergo one or two more cycles; once a PET scan shows good response to chemo by the tumors, the plan is for him to undergo a high-dose chemo session along with an autologous stem cell (hematopoetic type) transplant. Meanwhile the best thing we can do for Seth is make STM ultrasuccessful. For now, top priority is getting the word out and encouraging folks to sign up immediately for the 5K so we can plan accordingly. Note that will also need runners, triathletes and volunteers at the Unite Half Marathon at Rutgers (April), and at the NJ State Triathlon (July). Stay tuned & Stomp On! |
Thanks for reading! Be sure to sign up for the 5K, if you haven't already, and pass the word!
Sincerely,
--The Stomp the Monster™ Team
