Pastel Portrait Artist

Bella Portrait
Portrait of 'Bella' by LeAnna Tuff

LeAnna Tuff is a seasoned and award-winning portrait artist. She is truly a very gifted pastel portrait artist. She studied with the very famous artist, Daniel Greene, who is considered by Encyclopedia Britannica to be the foremost pastel artist in the United States.  Her detailed work of people or pets is outstanding. LeAnna captures the personalities of her subjects whether human or animal. Her trade mark is how she captures the eyes so exquisitely like a window into the soul.

We do have several prints of her Clints that are always available. LeAnna taught in Vienna, Austria for 10 years and has recently settled in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Her collectors include Doris Day and the CEO of Columbia Pictures.

FathersDay The Clark Little Show Was Packed
Clark's Show

Clark and VIP Carolyn at

Clark's VIP

Pre-Show Event

The Clark Little Show was fabulous.  We were packed to the brim.  We showed Clark's movie to a standing room only crowd and everyone loved it.  It showed Clark right in the middle of huge waves just clicking away to get his spectacular shots.  Of course, it also showed the high price he pays as massive waves come crushing down on him.  He almost always comes up with a smile.  Clark loves what he does.

I overheard several people say the best part of the movie was the surfing rats.  There were two rats named Salt and Pepper.  Salt loved to surf, of course, but Pepper did not so Pepper didn't have to surf.  It was a funny part to see a real surf rat!  The movie showed Clark's obvious passion for what he does.

Most got to meet Clark and had him sign their piece.  Clark let everyone see his camera up close.    We hope everyone had a wonderful time and we apologize for the crowds, chaos and lines.

Of course, we always carry Clark's work.  So feel free to come in and look at your leisure, without a crowd.

Clark Little Calendar's Are In

The long awaited 2012 Calendars are in.  They actually start in September 2011.  There is one page that has Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec 2011.  They are $18- and $4- shipping to anywhere in the USA.  If you'd like a copy, please call the gallery at 831-626-0600.

"I went out for a pretzel and came back with a painting!"

La Playa Garden

La Playa Garden by Laura Wiens

A couple visiting from Canada decided to go out and get a fresh pretzel.  They went to the bakery and the pretzels weren't ready.  10 more minutes.  They came up the street and found Mountainsong.  They fell in love with a painting by our new artist, Laura Wiens.  They decided they wanted this painting to go home with them.

The husband said, "I can't believe I went out for a pretzel and came back with a painting!"

Laura Wiens specializes in scenes of Carmel-by-the-Sea and her miniatures start at only $65-.

(This is the best part)

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it.  A couple of weeks ago this nice man decided he wanted to acquire Caddy Shack by David O'Keefe.  As he was making all the arrangements with Dad, his wife told Mom that I was the reason they came into the gallery in the first place.  I knew it!  Now, Mom knows it too.  This is just the proof I was seeking.  So come to see me, Mr. Bo Jangles - the lovable greeter and definitely not a dog.

PS  On a walk the other day, Sequoia saw a dog and said, "That's not Mr. Bo Jangles, that's a dog!"  The kid knows!

I started school this month!  I go to the local Montessori school and I love it.  I get to play in water every day.  I also get to play catch with the other children and play with blocks.  I can figure the blocks out all by myself.  I have to put them away every time though.  I already can count to 20 and know most of my letters!

Fun and Interesting Facts About Carmel-by-the-Sea

I finally am letting my DaDa write a column too.  He loves Carmel-by-the-Sea so it seems appropriate that he writes about it.

------------------------------------------------------

I can't believe it...I FINALLY get to write a column!!!  Well, let's get started.  I have always loved Carmel-by-the-Sea and had long hoped that someday I would call this paradise home.  And now it is...Lucinda, Sequoia our two dogs and two cats live here.

Each issue I will bring you fun and interesting facts about our little city.  For starters, it is important to know that there are three entities that share the name "Carmel."  Carmel is an unincorporated area of Monterey County that runs along Highway 1 and includes areas such as The Barnyard and The Crossroads where Safeway is located.  Carmel Valley is also an unincorporated area of Monterey County and runs through the valley, east of Highway 1.  Carmel-by-the-Sea is a 1.1 square mile area and is fully incorporated.  We have our own police and fire departments, a very quaint City Hall and everything one needs to sustain life: doctors, dentists, a drug store, two markets, a post office, CPAs, banks, financial planners, insurance agents, travel agents (I've always wondered about this...why would anyone want to leave here?) florists, restaurants and pubs, coffee shops, delis, trolley service, shops, shops and more shops and, of course, art galleries and a very rich and colorful history.  We have a dedicated city government that does a GREAT job of preserving the ambiance of Carmel-by-the-Sea for everyone to enjoy.  Carmel-by-the-Sea truly is a very special place like none other...the ambiance, the cottages, the year-round flowers, the charm and very friendly people.
