Recently we've seen more rust than usual, both inside the head of high-speed handpieces, but also on the exterior. Usually this is caused by rushing the handpiece back into use before proper dry time. Rust especially inside the handpiece head can cause premature failure of the bearings that are the heart of the turbine. Continued rust may even cause your warranty to be voided! Soooo, do your best to allow proper dry time. If you need additional handpieces, we usually have access to good refurbished units. Please ask!
Handpiece Maintenance Tips.....
1. Cleaner/lubricant should be sprayed or dropped ONLY into the drive air hole, which leads to the turbine. The exhaust hole does not connect to the turbine.
2. Contra angles should be detached and taken apart for lubrication.
3. Run the handpiece to expel excess oil. This is important to evenly distribute oil through the bearings and chuck mechanism and to expel excess oil to prevent coagulation during autoclaving. Install a bur in the chuck and run the handpiece for 20 seconds. (do not use a bur blank - they are not made to ISO specs, do not run concentrically, and may damage the turbine.)

A Tribute to America!!
The Star Spangled Banner
By Frances Scott Key (1814)
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Do you know the other verses?
