LEARN TO WRITE (BETTER) SONGS

SONGWRITING SERIES

The Songwriting series covers all of the elements of composing your own music. It helps answer questions such as, "How do I write lyrics?" or "I have parts, but how do I turn them into a song?" This class will give a framework for converting your creative ideas into a workable form for you or anyone else you'd like to share them with. The class culminates in a live performance at a local music venue.

The Foundry Turns Five!

It's been five years since owner Mike Olson open the doors of Madison Music Foundry. At the time it was solely a band rehearsal space. But now we also give 400 lessons a week and the number keeps growing!

In support of our five-year anniversary Andy Moore wrote a great article about the Foundry in the Isthmus titled:
"Madison Music Foundry brings young players together"

Big thanks to Andy Moore and the Isthmus!

It's one thing to write a song by yourself, but what about with other people? Some of the most famous songs ever written in the pop world were composed by songwriting teams such as Lennon/McCartney, Jaggers/Richards, and Rogers/Hammerstein). But learning to work with one or more collaborators is an art of itself.

Foundry piano instructor Nancy Rost will lead this class through the process of collaborative songwriting. Participants will compose on the spot with others and all will get a chance to share their work.
