Friday, April 1, 6-10pm
Madison Music Foundry
Open to the Public

This is a fundraiser for victims of the recent earthquakes in Japan. It will feature a number of Rock Workshop bands, information tables about the Relief Funds, tables of artwork for sale to help the benefit, and other activities for kids and adults alike.

We'll post more details on our Facebook page as they come in. Please mark your calendar for what will be a great event of youth taking action to help those in need.

American Federation of Musicians

Lately there has been a lot of talk about unions. Did you know that musicians have a union? It's the American Federation of Musicians (AFM for short). They are an AFL-CIO member and have been around since 1896! The Madison chapter, Local 166 has been around since 1901.

In addition to providing support for musicians who may be struggling to get compensated fairly for their work, the AFM also provides a number of tools to help those pursuing a career in music. The AFM provides a variety of discounts on instrument insurance, travel expenses, and web hosting. It also provides resources for booking gigs, touring and giving private lessons.

If you'd like to read  more about AFM Local 166, the Isthmus Newspaper published an article interviewing Madison Music Foundry's Education Director Ken Fitzsimmons.

Instrument Donations

Musical Equipment We owe a big thank you to Colleen Klug for donating a piano to Madison Music Foundry!

Every instrument donated to us helps countless numbers of music students, teachers and bands, plus it helps keep our costs down. We frequently lend basses and guitars to Rock Workshop students, and as many of you know, rehearsal rooms come fully equipped with drums, amps, PAs and keyboards.

If you've got an old guitar, bass, piano or any other instrument laying around that you'd like to put to good use, please contact us. We can arrange to pick it up.

Also, we're looking for a computer to help us with online registrations. Desktop or laptop is fine, and it's no problem if it's a few years old.

Thank you from all of us at Madison Music Foundry!
