The early summer and warm spring have packed a surprise! The berries are out early. They are ripe, juicy, and delicious. The blueberries cover the expanse of rocky soil smothered in sun. The recovering forest has resulted in even a greater harvest, as there are many areas with less canopy allowing the rays to shine right on down! They make for a great snack out paddling or better yet they are a mouthwatering addition to granola or pancakes for breakfast. And, if blue berries are not your cup of tea, then raspberries you will eat. They are a little bit harder to find, but still very abundant. And if you're lucky you might just come across the remaining wild strawberries that pack the punch with flavor. You can't get any better than that!

 

The weather has been amazing here. The temperature has been warm, reaching the 70's and 80's every day. The sun has been shining, the waves washing gently ashore, and the breeze keeping you cool. It makes it impossible not to want to be outside every moment of the day. Don't let the short notice deter you from planning another trip to come visit us. Permits are still available and we can set you up with any gear or food that you may need. If you would rather take it easy, come by and stay at one of our cabins. We still have last minute openings. And don't get me started on the starry nights...breathtaking!
