We have several winners at Madison in a variety of areas. One of our star gymnasts, Andrea V., recently placed first in vault, bars, beam, and all around. This was not an easy task as the competition numbered fifty plus. Congrats again, Andrea, keep up the good work!
On the game front, Megan G. has been a winner against all of the staff members. Megan's counting and memory skills have much improved over the last few months.
Jeremy A. and Alex T. are our incredibly talented "model magic" creators. Both boys are capable of designing planes, guitars, Nintendo characters (Mario and Luigi) and much more from this colorful clay. In fact, Jeremy was the one who introduced us to Model Magic. Recently, parents have asked as to where to buy the above product.
Card games remain a favorite pastime at Madison. "Spit" is probably the game of choice because of its speed. Some of the students are always willing to play against this Site Director because they always win. It is great fun to see their joy when they reign victorious.
This past month, a new card game was introduced. "Phase 10" has really caught on with the students. Actually, Jayna P. was familiar with the game and was helpful in explaining the rules to others. Emma B. caught on quickly and frequently asks to play. In any case, due to its popularity, this card game will probably become one of the favorites at TLC.
We also have introduced "Brain Quest" questions relating to the fifty states. The students have formed teams in order answer the questions correctly and win a prize. The questions are not easy so the group effort is advantageous to everyone.
The ongoing basketball games in the gym remain competitive for the players. This competition allows the students an opportunity to get physical exercise after the school day. Staff members Gary and Tyler are always willing to participate and keep everything in order during the games. Sometimes, it's Gary's team versus Tyler's team and/or Gary and Tyler versus the students. All in all, it is time well spent.
March brought a reason for a special treat. St. Patrick's Day was celebrated with a variety of brightly colored doughnuts. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed them. At least for now, March appears to have brought some clear and sunny weather. Soon, we hope to play outside and resume our favorite game of "run the bases."
Closing for now, we look forward to spring with warmer weather and brightly colored daffodils and tulips.
