Got A Bag Full of Little Pieces of Fabric?
Sometimes when you finish a craft project or sewing project, you usually have some fabric left over. It could be a large piece or several small pieces.
So, what do you do with them after you've finished a project?
Do you discard them, or, if you're like me, you squirrel them away because "you never know when you might need a little piece of fabric for something?"
Somehow, those little pieces add up and the next thing you know, you have a big bag full of small pieces of fabric.
Well, I have an easy solution that will not take a lot of time, but will use up a good deal of those little scraps.
You can make sachets to put in your drawers that will keep your clothes smelling fresh.
The first thing you need to do is to get the potpourri you want to fill the sachets with. My particular favorite is lavender.
Directions For Making A Drawer Sachet
1. Cut 2-4 X 4 inch squares of fabric. Choose a light-weight fabric that will allow the fragrance to "breathe" through.
2. Put the pieces right sides together and sew by machine (or stitch by hand if you don't have a machine), very close to the edge, on three sides of the fabric.
3. Turn the fabric right side out. If you want, you can give it a quick pressing with the iron.
4. Fill the sachet with the potpourri just enough to make a little pillow out of it. Don't over fill it because it will be hard to stitch it closed.
5. Pin the opening closed with straight pins and hand stitch across.
6. If you want, you can use ribbon to dress it up or however you would like your sachets to look.
7. You're done! It's ready to go into a drawer.
These sachets also make a nice gift. You can make 4 of them and tie them with a pretty ribbon, or toss into a gift basket with other personal items.
