Blue Flamingo on the Move!
It's true - the Blue Flamingo is moving. Our last day of business on 10th Street will be Tuesday, May 22nd, and we will re-open mid-June at our new location at 20th and Leavenworth. The new space offers distinct areas for our thrift and Fair Trade items as well as a sorting area that is on the same level. We are also adding a garden behind the store so we can continue to grow fresh produce.
We will announce our official grand opening as well as the date that we will begin accepting donations at the new space in our next newsletter.
We will be updating our website, www.blueflamingo.org with progress reports on our move so you know when we reopen. You can also find us on Facebook.

Staff Changes
We want to re-welcome Deb Keeney, who has been covering management of both the Big Garden and the Blue Flamingo. Effective April 27, Deb has been officially assigned to UMM as a Church and Community Worker and will oversee both current and developing ministries at the Blue Flamingo.
Caryn Vincent has joined us as summer staff. Caryn will be a Masters of Public Health student at UNMC this fall, and will work mainly from the Blue Flamingo as we move to a new location and discover the needs and interests of the community in this new mission field.
We also want to wish Shannon Kyler, Blue Flamingo staff, the best as she moves on to other opportunities. Shannon's gift for welcoming guests and extending gracious hospitality will be missed; we look forward to staying connected with her so we can continue to enjoy her non-anxious presence.

Fair Trade Boutiques
Looking for an interesting program for your club, Sunday School class, United Methodist Women's group or other organization? Why not book a Fair Trade boutique through the Blue Flamingo? Our staff are trained and ready to make a short presentation on the concept of fairly traded goods, and will bring along a sampling of Fair Trade items - for sale! We can also skip the presentation and just bring the goods, if that works better for your format. Booking a presentation and/or boutique helps educate your friends and neighbors about Fair Trade, and also helps the Blue Flamingo develop a broader base of support in the community. Call the United Methodist Ministries office at 402.898.9862 and ask for Lisa to book a speaker, and Deb to book a boutique.

Find us at Lauritzen Gardens
You can find the Blue Flamingo and the Big Garden at Laurtizen Gardens May 19th and 20th where we will be staffing a table at Lauritzen's annual Spring into Spring event. We will have Fair Trade items for sale, as well as selected seedlings from the Big Garden greenhouse. We have heard rumors of lime basil and Stephanie's favorite: Aunt Ruby's Green German heirloom tomatoes - but the details won't be certain until the day of the sale. Proceeds benefit United Methodist Ministries' work through Blue Flamingo and the Big Garden. We hope you will come show your support!
