Have an Alternative Holiday!
Make your holiday gifts count!  Some ways to work for a more just world this holiday season:

  • Join us today, December 1st, from 4-7pm for the Blue Flamingo Holiday Open House.  Enjoy yummy homemade treats while purchasing Fair Trade gifts for all of your loved ones!  1716 South 10th Street in Omaha, 402-964-2740.

  • Come purchase the Blue Flamingo's beautiful Fair Trade scarves, jewelry, chocolate, ornaments, and other gift items at the Holiday Market at Aksarben Village, 67th & Center in Omaha, this Saturday 10-7 and Sunday 10-5.

  • Support an Advance Project this holiday season.  The giving arm of the United Methodist Church, the Advance has hundreds of projects around the United States and the world.  100% of each donation goes directly to the project of your choice, helping to support the ministry of United Methodists in a vast array of different ministries and areas.  Click here to get started.

  • Partner with Heifer International to provide gifts that will keep on giving far past Christmas morning.  Goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, chicks, honeybees, and llamas are all possible gifts through Heifer as they partner with individuals and families around the world to promote sustainable livestock and agriculture in alleviating hunger and poverty.   Click here for more information.

  • Give a gift from the United Methodist Committee on Relief's gift catalog.  Each gift helps support the work of UMCOR as it serves those in need of emergency relief around the world.  UMCOR is often one of the first responders to areas, such as Haiti, struck by natural disasters.  Click here to see UMCOR's holiday gift catalog.

  • Give a gift in honor of a loved one to the ministries of Blue Flamingo, the Big Garden, or United Methodist Ministries.  Donation gift cards can be purchased on our website or at the Blue Flamingo.  Each card has space for you to designate who the gift has been given in honor of. Support the mission and ministry of United Methodist Ministries and share the story of our work with others this holiday season.  Must be ordered by December 16 in order to be sent in time for Christmas. Click here to order.

  • Stop by the Blue Flamingo anytime Monday through Friday 12-7pm and Saturday 10-3 during this holiday season to stock up on Fair Trade and thrift gifts for the holidays.
