  • 100,000 Homes Project Coming to Omaha
The Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH), in partnership with Common Ground of NYC, is seeking to compile information about our community's most vulnerable homeless people, to rank their conditions by severity, and then to systematically house people before their homelessness causes them to die.

The 100K Homes effort in Omaha/Council Bluffs begins October 11-15th when volunteer teams will be deployed to survey individuals according to the vulnerability index.  The goal is to then house 100 individuals who are identified according to their vulnerability.  Click
here for more info about the campaign.  Volunteers are needed for three different aspects of the campaign: surveying our community's homeless, entering survey data, and attending the community briefing.  Training will be provided.

  • Sell Pumpkins, Send Kids to Camp
The United Methodist Camp Fontanelle in Nickerson, NE has pumpkins that your church or group can sell to raise money to send kids to camp.  A 1 ½ acre patch was planted at the new ranch JUST for churches to sell and to help offset the cost of camp.  While the camp would love to have some proceeds for general scholarships to camp, your church can decide what percentage of sales to donate to general camp scholarships and what percentage to use towards camp scholarships for kids from your church to attend.  You decide what the camp/church scholarship ratio is---it's your call.  Last year over $6,000 was provided in camp scholarships with conference scholarships covering about $4,000, which represents over a $2,000 shortfall in funding for requested scholarships.

Call Trent at 402.459.0686 to arrange to come pick a pickup load or two of pumpkins and advertise and sell the pumpkins in your church.  You set the prices for the pumpkins.  Folks will be buying pumpkins anyway, why not a Camp Fontanelle pumpkin for a good cause?
