In your church
Encourage your congregation to go green!
Has your church begun the "green" conversation? You might think about having a "green" worship service this spring, or plan big for next year. Our UM Ministries staff is happy to come speak at your church.
Also, the Energy Star web site, a program of the U.S. EPA, has devoted a number of pages to helping congregations get started on saving energy. Some projects are simple, like changing lightbulbs or installing occupancy sensors in light switches so lights turn off when no one is present. And then there are the more involved projects, like upgrading heating and ventilation and landscaping with plants native to your climate.
Native American Special Offering April 18th, (can be celebrated at any time) Advance #752
Native American Ministries Sunday recognizes and supports the contributions of Native Americans to the church and society. The observance, approved by the 1988 General Conference, is one of six special churchwide Sunday offerings.
The funds collected will allow The United Methodist Church to partner with existing native ministries and create programs on behalf of Native Americans. Money collected also supports seminary scholarships for United Methodist Native Americans.
