So many thanks you's! So many thank you's to everyone who had a hand in
making our Easter celebrations beautiful and meaningful: thank you to
our Altar Guild, to our Layreaders and Chalice Administrators, to our
LEM's, to our Acolytes and Ushers, to our Choir and Organist, to the 288

EPISCOPAL COMMUNITY SERVICES SUNDAY
May 2nd
Each
year the Diocese of Pennsylvania asks every parish to acknowledge and
support the ministry of Episcopal Community Services. Founded in 1870,
ECS is the oldest social services agency operating in Philadelphia. All
Saints' will welcome a guest speaker from ECS at the Sunday 8:00 &
10:00 Holy Eucharists on May 2nd. Brochures and special offering
envelopes will be provided for all services including the 5:30 Saturday
Holy Eucharist. Please join us to learn about ECS. Take home a brochure
and read the heart-warming 'success' stories from people whose lives
have benefited from ECS's help. And then make a contribution using the
envelope provided. Why? First, because of the agency's record of
success. Second, because Philadelphia has the highest rate of poverty
among the nation's 10 largest cities. In other words, there is more for
ECS and many other organizations to do. Thank you and God Bless. |
Northeast
Committee on Homelessness
and
All Saints' Volunteers
All Saints' held its first
meeting to coordinate parish volunteers for St. Mark's meal program
operating under the auspices of Northeast Committee on Homelessness.
Joining several of our parishioners at the April 6th meeting were women
representing Ladies' Ancient Order of Hibernians! How pleased we were to
welcome them to this outreach endeavor. A menu sufficient to feed 100
people was planned for All Saints' preparation of the meal scheduled for
Saturday June 5th at St. Mark's. Thanks to our parishioners who met
together for our organizational meeting: Myrna Weinstein, Nora Perry,
Deane Gordon, Nancy Umfer, Nancy Foster, Adge Martin, Alan Martin,
Michele Haberle, Joan Kelly, Dolores Ryan, and Rita Smith. We're off and
running!
Apologies for an
omission: When All Saints' assisted with the Pennypack Deanery Lenten
meal at St. Mark's two of our parishioners were unintentionally omitted
from the acknowledgment. Our apologies to Deane and Ruth Gordon who were present with
shirtsleeves rolled up.

organization, to Eleanore Hersch

Interim Rector and Hot Air
Steve and Irene will be in San Francisco and
San Diego May 10th through the 18th spending time with their sons. The
'hot air' thing? Son Matt, in San Diego, gave his dad a glider ride for
Christmas and he's going out to collect. Son Steve, in San Francisco,
gave his dad cool camera equipment. If dad can take his hand off the
flight controls long enough he should be able to get some great photos
in the thermal updraft! In the mean time, Leslie Evans will cover all
services on the weekend of May 15-16. Thank you, Leslie! Steve will be
back in the church office on Wednesday May 19th in time for the 9:30
Holy Eucharist.
