Dear Friends,
The season has changed from summer to fall since our last contact, but we are back and as busy as ever. For the past few months, we have been expanding our presence to audiences across the country, with our radio show Keeping Up with Gen Y and from mentions and appearances in other media, such as the Miami Herald, Weekly Press (Philadelphia), AllBusiness.com (owned by Dun & Bradstreet), and WCHE 1520-AM (West Chester, Penn.)
One of the projects we're working on is a redesign of the Y Gen Out Loud website and logo. Tristan Mace, Y Gen's October Entrepreneur and partner at Livney+Partners in Dallas, is redesigning the site as a gift to us. We're making the site more interactive, and will be interested in your feedback when it's up and running in a few weeks.
Another project is our first annual Y Gen Cares at the Holidays contest, where young adults can share what they are doing this holiday season to give back to their communities. Be sure to check below for details on how you can participate in the celebration of Gen Y volunteerism.
With the end of 2010 almost upon us, we look forward to the new year and bringing you stories about important issues and topics in 2011. We'll keep you updated on all our plans in the newsletter as well as on our site.
'Til next month, The Y Gen Team
Y Gen Out Loud's Mission Y Gen was founded to provide a platform to keep the next generation informed about national politics and policy issues while encouraging them to engage in their communities. Through independent, nonpartisan journalism, we work to connect the dots for Gen Y between policy decisions made by our government and how those decisions affect their every day lives. There is no time like the present for the next generation to take an interest in what's happening in their state, country, and world!

Y Gen Cares at the Holidays Contest
The holidays are a special time of year, where we go out of our way to help others in need. To celebrate that holiday spirit of giving and volunteering, Y Gen Out Loud is hosting its first annual Y Gen Cares at the Holidays contest. The contest, which we will officially launch next week, asks young adults nationwide to share what they are doing this holiday season to give back to their communities, whether locally, nationally, or globally. The 10-day contest will begin on December 13 and end on December 23. Contestants between 18 and 30 years of age will compete in one of three categories -- Essay, Video, or Slideshow. The Essay will be between 300 and 500 words, while both the Video and Slideshow will be a maximum of 3 minutes. There will be judges for each category. Winners will be announced on January 10, 2011, in conjunction with the kick off of Y Gen Cares, our yearlong celebration of young people who exemplify the holiday spirit every day. Y Gen Cares spotlights the unsung heroes who reach out to others with the hope and determination to make all lives better. Each month, a Gen Y volunteer will be featured on the news site as well as guest on the online radio show, Keeping Up with Gen Y. At Y Gen Out Loud, we believe the next generation can accomplish amazing things with a little encouragement. And Y Gen Cares is our way of saying "thank you." We are still looking for a few good judges. If you or someone you know wants to give thanks for the young people who volunteer in their community, please contact Tamara Bell at tamara@ygenoutloud.com or 512.992.3901 for sponsorship information.

Keeping Up with Gen Y Goes Outdoors
In the past few months, our radio show, Keeping Up with Gen Y, has featured a diverse group of guests who have shared their expertise and passion with our Gen Y audience.
In our most recent show, we talk to Christine Fanning, executive director of The Outdoor Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering future generations of outdoor enthusiasts and environmental stewards.
Christine joined Keeping Up with Gen Y to talk about the inherent benefits of the outdoors and how Gen Y leaders of tomorrow can best protect our nation's landscapes, waterways, and parks today and in the future. Click here to listen to the show.
And if you or someone you know would like to be a guest on the show, please contact Tamara Bell at tamara@ygenoutloud.com. We are interested in bringing new thoughts and ideas to our Gen Y audience.

Media Partnership with GenJuice
We are proud to announce our new media partnership with GenJuice, a for-profit site devoted to becoming the No. 1 destination and resource for emerging Gen Y influencers, defined as young people innovating within their industries. They provide content, events, products, and a community for young people.
GenJuice's primary mission is Quit & Create. They hope to create a movement that gets Gen Y to quit stalling and start creating a path to who they want to be.
In our partnership, we will provide GenJuice with content about politics and public policy issues of interest to their audience of young leaders. And GenJuice will promote Y Gen Out Loud and our mission to its network of thousands.
We are excited about our partnership with this like-minded business as we both seek to motivate and provide resources for Generation Y as they move into leadership positions within our government and industries.
