2011 Midwinter Clinic
A big thank you to all our Exhibitors, Speakers and attendees for your support of this yea r's Midwinter Clinic at The Westin Bayshore! Hosting a quality line-up of speakers and lectures, and with an early sell-out of exhibitor booths, Midwinter Clinic was a great success and we'd like to thank the members of the dental community for attending our Annual Conference and Tradeshow!
We'd also like to thank all those who donated and bid on items making our premier Silent Auction a wonderful new addition to this year's event! The Winners are listed in the left column of this E-Newsletter. Proceeds will support the enhancement of the VDDS Ludlow Beamish Award for Ethics, which is given to a third year UBC dental student each season, and to assist with special audio-visual requirements. |

VDDS Welcomes New Lifetime Members!
Each year at Midwinter Clinic, we honour the Life Members of the Vancouver & District Dental Society. Criteria for the awarding of a Life Membership are daunting: Life Members are those who have practiced dentistry for a minimum of 45 years; who have been members of VDDS for at least 20 of those years, and have been awarded Life Membership by the VDDS Board of Directors. This year there were 28 of our Life members present at the Midwinter Clinic Festive Luncheon, and the following dentists were awarded new Life memberships: Dr. Richmond M. Cheng Dr. Peter R. Hupfau Dr. Kenneth K. Lee Dr. Don E. MacFarlane Dr. John More Dr. Geoffrey B. Remocker Dr. John T. Roach Dr. David D. Waterbury Dr. Maurice K. Wong

VDDS Prepares for a Stellar Year Ahead!
 As the VDDS Board Members and Office gear up for 2012, we'd like to take this opportunity to wish our members, corporate sponsors and partners in education a wonderful holiday season. Thank You for helping make 2011 a successful year of Quality Dental CE, social events and fraternal networking!  Moving forward, first up on the 2012 CE Schedule, is Pediatric Specialist and Guest Speaker, Dr. Greg Psaltis and his lecture titled "So Little Room ... So Much To See". This is a lecture that will also appeal to your dental team members, so why not plan on bringing them! I'll be sending a lecture RSVP in early January with presentation details about this event taking place Friday, January 20 at The Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel.
We're pleased to welcome as educational partners the Provision Accounting Group, who are now looking after accounting processes and financial reporting for VDDS. It has been a
pleasure working with Ken and Nate Morrison, who have assisted us with the Society's budgeting issues, plus the creation of a new, more informative monthly reporting process for the Board of Directors.

The Memorial Lecture and bestowing of a Humanitarian Award is held every two years to commemorate the life and contributions of Dr. Paul Rondeau, whose accidental death occurred during his term as President of VDDS.

This year we are honoured to have Dr. Gordon Christensen present The Paul Rondeau Memorial Lecture, "Practical Clinical Dentistry". Confirmed for Monday, February 27 at The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, his talk will be in conjunction with our luncheon and the Presentation of the 2012 Humanitarian Award. (Submissions for the 2012 Award are now closed.)
 With an already enthusiastic response and the possibility of having to arrange a larger room at The Fairmont for this event, we ask that you please register early for this lecture so we can be sure to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend.  |
